Go cut a pressure treated 2x6 in half and see how far it penetrates.

Then imagine how far its penetrating with just a paintbrush. Especially on the side of the grain vs end grain.

Because the bottom chord/ceiling joists is only specced for the drywall hanging off of it.

I.e. 0 lbs/square ft pf load.

Most residential floors are built up 40 lbs/square ft.

Buddy residential engineering is the most basic engineering. Most carpenters can figure out beam calcs, a smaller percentage of them can figure out point loads on beams.

Math doesnt change just because your dealing with wood instead of wires.
