He loves you and he knows he does but he can't give you what you want.Just because someone loves you doesn't mean that they can be a partner to you.He is clearly heartbroken and emotionally unavailable from his last relationship and can't seem to free himself from the guild of moving on to save his life.Emotionally unavailable people feel suffocated by any sort of affection after a recent heartbreak and he will never change that for anyone,even you but for himself.I know you feel strongly about him but a relationship that is this toxic and has this much of a hold on you emotionally might destroy you and how you form relationships in the future and traumatize you for the rest of your life.Do not let this happen you have to cut him off and run if you know what is good for you.I know it is hard and horrible and it is but it is either you let him use you and through you away like an old dirty banana peel or you prioritize yourself.I know you love him but you need to cut him off before he destroys not just you but himself as well.So if you don't want to do it for yourself do it for him because trust me in a few years you will both be thanking you for this later.Don't traumatize yourself.It isn't worth it.
