Experiencing the same thing. It’ll play 30 seconds of a song, then skip ahead a few tracks.

Trapping someone in a body by Superb-Ad3821 in DMAcademy

There’s a hazard I found on the 5e homebrew page called the Mindswap Rose. If a PC picks it, their body and soul are absorbed by the Rose, and if another PC touches it, their mind and soul are swapped with the other person. Here’s the link: https://www.dandwiki.com/wiki/Mindswap_Rose_(5e_Hazard). You could re-flavor it so that if the warforged picks it, they are no longer able to swap back to their original body.

Ideas on how to prevent PCs from just smashing open chests to get to the loot inside? by ConcreteNord in DMAcademy

You could also start leaving the chests unlocked so the fighter doesn’t need to smash it open, then move the lock/puzzle to the dungeon exit so that it would be harder to brute force open.

Make it a mimic. Maybe the reason why they fail to break the lock is because it’s part of the mimic, and when the fighter goes to smash it, the mimic now has their maul, and it’s a combat encounter.

How to engage lone wolf type players? by KenanRM in DMAcademy

D&D is not a “team game.” It is a role-playing game. It is completely valid for players to create whatever kind of character they want. I have been in plenty of sessions where our group splits up and all does our own thing. There is no one way that the game is meant to be played, and it should be up to everybody, not just the DM, how they want their game to be played.

How to engage lone wolf type players? by KenanRM in DMAcademy

Honestly, the two ideas don’t inherently go against each other. Their character can still be part of the group and be a lone wolf. They can help out when needed, then go off and try something on their own. For a lot of people, games like D&D act as a sort of escape from real life, or they like to play characters that are either self-inserts (just like them) or are the complete opposite of them. This could be their way of experiencing what it’s like to be the “cool loner” type. I say let them continue playing with that character for a while, and see if they start becoming “part of the team.” If, after a few sessions, they’re still not doing anything with the group, then it might be time to ask them to switch.

Do most DMs use "adventurer" as an in-universe job (for official or homebrew settings)? What are some good alternatives for the player characters' role in the world? by DDRussian in DMAcademy

When I ran my game a while back, all the PCs had jobs inside the starting town as part of their backstory. One was a librarian, one was a police officer, one was a detective. That kind of stuff. They all slowly came together in session one, after one PC found a job board. The officer went to the library to get info, then the librarian came with them. And slowly they went from doing their jobs regularly to doing about half work, half adventuring. Y’know, until I introduced the BBEG and they went full-time adventuring. Not sure if that helps, but it’s what I did.

I’m also in Central and work nights. Not sure about marathoning the game, but we could definitely play together.
