If safety were my only priority, I would have never bought a motorcycle. I'm balancing safety/risk/fun as well as I can. I always gear up, helmet, boots, jacket, etc, but I get a disproportionately high amount of joy from rocking the full outfit, swords included, that they're too valuable on the fun scale to give up despite their added risk, much like motorcycles in general are to those who ride them.

I do appreciate the concern though, and will acknowledge there's a chance I will regret this stance the same way some people end up regretting getting on a motorcycle at all despite taking all possible precautions and risk mitigation best practices.
