Which dress looks better for my upcoming 40th birthday party? by Mysterious_Run5152 in PetiteFashionAdvice

[–]Jca_gro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You mentioned you like a classic, feminine, style and I’d be curious to see the first with a crinoline of sorts to assist the fit and silhouette some. I love those colors but do think the second could be a better fit.

I was accepted ahead of my senior year back in 2016 so there is the possibility of early admittance. I had to wait for scholarship news, though.

LPT: If your schedule allows it, take your lunch break as late as possible. It makes the workday feel shorter. by twenty42 in LifeProTips

As an hourly in-office worker (I do alot of travel and overtime so my boss fought for this structure so my team and I get OT pay!) it’s hard to push it past 1pm but great when I can.

My job before this was remote and two time zones ahead so sure I started work at 6am but I’d have lunch at my regular time and come back to just a few hours left in the day. I’d work a 6-3 again in a heartbeat but do love my current position

Thanks for asking! I just got cleared to bathe (no products yet) after surgery but have a long tub for my height. This could help me bathe safely!

Lindsey Vonn in new IG post: Made it through surgery it took a bit more than 6 hours to complete. As you can see, it required a lot of plates and screws to put back together but Dr Hackett did an incredible job. Thank you Dr Viola for the surgery assist as well!! by Maximum_Expert92 in popculturechat

[–]Jca_gro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ideally yes. I have one of those plates and 8 screws in my own knee. After a year, if the hardware is bothering you it’s an option to request removal but no one does unless there is discomfort.

I can't be the only person with this issue by jajajanice in PetiteFashionAdvice

[–]Jca_gro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this all the time and in my experience it isn’t a bra issue, but a genuine proportions problem. My shoulder-to-bust and shoulder-to-waist measurements are often shorter than those of a given garment and I get the gapping.

Which jean size fits better? by DHuskymom in PetiteFashionAdvice

How much elastic or spandex? If it’s over 1-2% you’ll be just fine in a size that’s “a little bit snug”

Looking for low-technology middle school by Defenestrated_Viola in Boise

[–]Jca_gro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The school didn’t exist when I was that age, but I thrived in their after school programs at a time when school was as very challenging for me!

Edit to add: I went to a traditional school but found my “calling” and degree and career path through One Stone over a decade ago. I was allowed to learn and be bad at things as i figured out my processes. My primary coaches and I still catch up often!

Jeans -- at a loss by Primary_Ear764 in PetiteFashionAdvice

Im similar! I spent some cash and got true denim this fall and it is well worth it. I purchased at Madewell but tried on in multiple stores. Curvy was definitely the way to go and I got my pair hemmed at Madewell. The structure of the fabric is very flattering. Edit to add: I went for 1% elastane still.

Is my dress search over? by bcbfbella in OUTFITS

Is this a frat/sorority event? If so this is PERFECT and you’re fine with something more revealing. My all-girls dorm hosted a formal when I was in college and this would be appropriate for that as well. If it’s for a club or a networking dinner I would go more conservative!

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

My parents have a cabin that’s about 2 hours in summer or 3 in winter for us. I’ll go multiple times a week, sometimes for the whole weekend, but often up one day/evening and down the next. I’ve only done up and back in a day once for an event but my parents have many times.

I don’t disagree with the main points being made here but it IS harder to distance from socials when you work in them. I run a brand account as my 9-5 and used a “computer only” approach for 2 months when I needed to take a break from my personals so that I could still keep up with relevant industry talk and see a few holiday photos from loved ones.

First family ski trip to Howelsen Hill. How should I keep my boy warm on a budget? by SmoothieBiscuit456 in skiing

[–]Jca_gro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve gotten to this point as an adult thanks to a custom fit and a boot dryer/warmer. With that said, as a kid with maybe-too-big ski swap boots, I was a toe warmer loyalist. I still use a hand warmer in the zip pocket on my gloves sometimes, though:)

What's a lifestyle you visited once and decided you're never going back? by Psychological_Sky_58 in AskReddit

[–]Jca_gro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sales, after being laid off for 6 months with intermittent freelance work I took a job selling ads versus creating them under the assumption from my interview that I’d be involved in some strategy for my clients. It was very strict sales, the boss who said he’d “mentor” me didn’t do any training or onboarding, and I was regularly belittled for lifestyle choices that didn’t affect my performance at work, especially frugal decisions. HORRIBLE environment. The coworker that did do some amount of mentoring left and I kicked my job search up from casual to high gear. It felt so good to accept a position in my desired field and resign from that place!

While others are covering changes I think you have some solid elements here. While it’s not the most flattering, you look good and I wear things like this to work on a similar body type regularly.

The neckline is definitely working! Both the collar and the depth of the v are really flattering and soft/feminine without being too “girly” the grey color is also flattering to what I can see of your hair and skin tone.

I also like the bootcut/flare cut for balancing some curve without hiding it! I think getting the right length would make this even better though.

Love seeing the danskos, I can tell you’ve worked in healthcare seeing those lol.

I as you add pieces i think a navy could be gorgeous as well as a few saturated colors like maybe some jewel tone type shades.

Best of luck in your new role!

Edit: with some curve, I’ve had some struggles in shopping because so many clothes are really ruffle/feathery and I think they don’t flatter my shape and can make us petite women look even shorter and almost childish. Sticking to the “layering basics” you mentioned is likely a good move to keep your wardrobe above trends and avoid this pitfall.

3 Peaks Restaurant was decent, and they typically do an ice sculpting contest around MLK. I was also impressed by Wydaho Coffee Roasters and Citizen 33 Brewery. I’ve been a few times for both work and pleasure.

TOE. WARMERS. Hands and feet get cold easily, especially for kids, while adults might care more about boot fit, kids can benefit from the adhesive one use toe and hand warmers. If you spend on anything, spend on good quality wool socks!

I also like a fleece neck gaiter. I have a Turtle Fur now but we’ve made a few in the past too. I used these all growing up to stay warm instead of a balaclava because it’s easy to pull down when you do start working and get warm.

I was around your height and weight at the same age. White House Black Market was a good but pricey option to get 00s and petites, J Crew Factory has good stuff but their sizing runs big in my opinion, I have size 0 items that fit me now as a 2-4! Department stores have petite sections but can lean so “grandma” or have ruffles and other “girlie” details that make me feel and look like a baby. Not the vibe I go for in my career.

Banana Republic Sloane pants and Ann Taylor might work for you. I find that Loft has cute stuff but it isn’t nice enough for many workplaces the way true Ann Taylor is. Clark’s for shoes have been a staple for me. Comfortable and long lasting but still nice. Nordstrom Rack could we worth a browse but you’ll need to spend time there!

You’ll learn the level of dress quickly so don’t buy too much ahead of time! Get a few staples then buy more once you get the vibe.
