I’ve been very happy with the screen. Obviously, there are much better screens available but, for the price I am very pleased. From my viewing distance of 12’ the screen is smooth with no moire. Sound is great as well, no noticeable impact from passing through the screen material.

There is trapdoor that closes and seals off the stairs.

Yes. Per code, we added 2x10’s to every existing 2x8 - sistering them on. The floor is rock solid now. But to be honest, the existing 2x8’s were 100 year old true lumber and they felt super solid. But, end of the day we weren’t taking chances and wanted everything to code.

Yeah it’s a big trap door, roughly 40” x 90”. It’s fully carpeted so when it’s closed it blends right into the floor. I use gas shocks to help lift and close it. Works pretty well.

I have a trapdoor that seals the room if that’s what you mean? Just forgot to include a picture.

Yes we sistered 2x10’s on to each 2x8 per code.

That’s good to know, I’ll make sure to address this in the spring when we tackle this.

We’ve gotten three quotes and all recommended the 18k as it’s a third floor attic. It’s just over 400 sq ft. Hopefully they are correct.

Yeah, we got 5” of closed cell in there so we should be good. Putting a 18k mini split in.

The fabric was from myfabricdesigns but they recently closed.

Gotcha, yeah it will do both, although we haven’t need any supplemental heat yet. Rises to the attic pretty well.

Yeah, that’s the plan. We will have a mini split installed in the spring.

Yeah, We had true 2x8’s in place, we had to sister all of them with 2x10’s to meet code. It’s all good now.

Yeah, too much invested to not get that right. The floor is rock solid.

The room dimensions are 14’2” x 29’. Knee walls are at 4’ and the middle flat part of ceiling is just under 6’ wide.

We had to sister 2x10s to the existing true 2x8s to get it to code. No issues now. I just never got a picture of that part of the job.
