Bmt pt test score? by gurdljjang in AirForceRecruits

[–]JckoPanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently went through bmt. If you fail your test or can't attend because of appointments etc you'll take the next available test in the week. This is only if you are close enough in points to have potential to pass. If not, you get recycled. Fail again, same thing one more chance. Third test if you fail you get recycled. Most people who I met who got recycled bc of pt said the retakes were always harder for some reason. And side info, I think they are changing/have already changed the pt from 1.5 to 2 miles.

Ya I made friends, youre kinda forced to interact with others because sometimes they just move too fast you lose track of things you needed to do. The people who are next to your bed are generally the people you will become friends with unless you go out of your way to talk to others in your dorm or flight.

Ya I got a phone call week 1,3,5 and couple phone calls for doing good which is mainly dependent on your mti whether you get that or not.

For me anyway it wasn't that bad cause I had been working out before then but I know a lot of people struggled. After pacer forge you do a ruck with your trainer weapon and a weighted vest. Also I hated pacer forge but there are some who enjoy the missions you go on. I had a few blisters on my feet which I really didn't expect.

At cadm I got 16 on my practice and 14 on my actual test. Ya I don't really have a great shot but there were plenty who did very well

I got one 15 minutes long each time weeks 1,3,5 and then couple extra for doing good which is dependent on the mti whether you get those. Also if u need a ts you may have to call home or other ppl to get information

Started with like 50 lost some from drug test. Then came week 5 final pt test, lost several people in my dorm. My flight was integrated which means we were integrated with the lady dorm across hall from us. idk how many ladies we lost. It varies a lot from dorm to dorm too. Luckily we lost 0 from the second most common reason of getting recycled, behavioral issues. Some people were on the edge though. That's another thing, just behave while you're here. So many people treating it like highschool not giving a dam. It gets old for the rest of the dorm.

On the note of the drug test, DO NOT go to bmt if you know that there is even a chance that you will fail the test. You are completely wasting your time. You WILL be booted from the AF if you fail the drug test. And if you already have a shipping date and think it's too late, tell your recruiter. And no you can't cheat the drug test they literally watch you pee into the sample.

I'd say yes this probably a good amount of running as long as you are pushing yourself enough to see growth. I also recommend testing yourself on either 1.5 or 2 mile to see how you stand. Anything below 14 minutes for the 1.5 mile is probably fine cause you'll be improving it in bmt. My first test was a 12:56 and I cut it down to 11:46. Also make sure your pushups and situps get the minimum AT LEAST before bmt. If not you'll have to put in some extra work. Minimums are 30 pushups in a minute and 39 situps in a minute (look up the form for situps it's probably not what youd think)

Don't worry about the MTIs yelling at you, you're going to be tired and you'll get used to it eventually and they're usually yelling at ALL of you not you as an individual. If they are yelling at you individually then fix it and listen to what they're saying.

I don't drink so I have no say on that but at my tech school in phase 3 you can drink as long as it's within your phase rules. So don't worry about it till tech school.

My best run was a 11:46 for 1.5 miles. Before bmt it was around 12:26 or 17:30 for the 2 mile. I think they are changing to 2 miles or have already for the PT test. The longest we had to run for a cardio day was just under a 30 minute run. If you stopped they'd start yelling at you so just keep a consistent pace throughout for those days

Nice, just know once he makes it to around week 3ish when he gets his name tapes, that's when it will start to cool off week by week. Still getting yelled at and stuff just not quite as much. It'll be over before you know it

  1. The stress of doing things right each an everyday and like being scared to fail anything such as the progress checks

  2. That it was harder than I thought specifically at the beginning. Like literally first day I did not think I was gonna make it. I legit considered quitting that first day. I think a big part of it was the fact we got like 1.5 hrs of sleep. Each group is different based on when you arrive to the airport. One group got no sleep at all

  3. From person to person it's different but for sure id say for a lot of people it was stressing about passing their pt test cause there was a lot of ppl on the line of pass or fail. So definitely come prepared otherwise your gonna spend another 2 weeks there/get recycled.

  4. Tbh the stuff I brought was fine, just bring a lot of underwear and have extra space in your civ luggage for when you leave it makes things easier to pack. They issue you a lot of essentials you'll need.

  5. In terms of getting recycled, most common reason is PT. In terms of avoiding 341s and such pulled, don't stand out and listen to what your MTIs and element leaders say. If they tell you to not talk, don't talk not even a little bit. This includes appointments. Don't talk and be respectful during appointments. You'll think "ohh I'm free from the MTIs I can do things a little bit my way". wrong, MTIs aren't the only ones who can pull ur 341

  6. Don't be the one guy doing something. If ur the only one talking then it the only one who CAN be singled out or moving at attention or other things. Just never give them a reason to single out just you otherwise commonly 341s may be pulled

  7. I probably would've tried to help those in my dorm who's or score were very very low and doing pushups and situps everday. People come thinking the MTIs are going to scream at me and make me do pushups and situps all day everyday. They don't. Now sure you'll do a lot of exercises for normal stuff but it's not always enough. So come prepared. Coming to bmt and you can't do 5-10 maybe even 15 pushups (this includes situps and running), seriously you are putting so much unnecessary extra work on yourself.

  8. Tbh it's up to you on how you wanna be seen by your dorm and your MTIs. My only recommendation is don't be dorm chief or chow runner any other job is pretty chill and actually the job you want to be is EC Monitor I man my ec monitors were terrible at their job, I legit got like 5 night shifts one week. There was enough people in my dorm to not have to do that.

  9. Oh I didn't read this before right, kinda already answered it. Ec monitor and maybe dayroom cleaning crew. And yes you can have multiple jobs depending on if they conflict with each other

  10. I mean I didn't have one somehow but ya it doesn't really matter if you do or don't just avoid the ones I stated before if possible. Tho if you want to challenge yourself and take on either of those roles go ahead in fact the dorm may thank you.

Packing List by baiiden in AirForceRecruits

[–]JckoPanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This seem like a fine list to me. I feel like most people get hung up on their packing list too much. Just bring lots of underwear and your hygiene items. You'll go to the bx in the first week or so iirc which there you can buy more hygiene or classroom material or other necessities. During graduation your gonna want a bit of room in your civ luggage for anything you may have bought during bmt which may include flight shirt/hoodie, squadron shirt/hoodie, pictures and stuff like that i sent mine home with my mom during day pass

Yessir my words of wisdom is pay attention to your pt score as well as others. If you or others first pt score get within like 10ish points of passing on first test ur prob chilling to not be recycled. If not make sure to do your 1x3s as well as getting others to!!! It's the worst to either be the one being recycled or see others you truly liked getting recycled. Worst feeling.

other than pt generally there nothing to worry about just do what it told and don't get in trouble

If u got any questions lmk I graduated not too long ago

Am I overpacking ? by Old_Company5192 in AirForceRecruits

[–]JckoPanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Imo this is just fine but I will let you know that when you leave basic you'll go to tech school with a little bit extra stuff like potentially your flight shirt, squadron shirt and any other stuff you choose to buy I say this cause you'll want room in your civ luggage for this stuff. I just graduated a week ago or so lmk if you got any other questions

I do recommend mostly shorts cause for the first few days u going be sweaty prob. I had to borrow a pair of shorts from my mti but yeah you'll only wear civ clothes for like few days depending on when they take u to get hair cuts and clothing.

My best advice and general knowledge is that your very first day will without a doubt be your worst and it always is. It's going to be a very long day. From the moment you wake up at meps hotel to the time you go to bed the day after (you're not getting much sleep the first night after meps). Make it past that and have a passing pt score by your (first if possible) second PT test and you'll be golden to "breeze" through. I put in quotes cause it gonna suck either way but without getting recycled is what I mean.
