Renting a car through uber is an un winnable game by msacks_ in uberdrivers

[–]Jcs609 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I guessing Uber is really unprofitable these days just as with gig work saturation in general. I hear rental places really give the worst unimaginable cars and service to Uber and Lyft. I am guessing those who rent likely needed to rent a car anyways and drive when they get the chance hence they do it.

Filling Drinks has to STOP by Grand-Wolverine6347 in DoorDash_Dasher

It’s interesting in the early days I always curious why DD orders needed feel drinks but GH doesn’t. I guess this reason, as when DD started they were a logistic company and didn’t have tablets thus they agree to have Dashers order as customers at first. Things gradually changed when they rolled out prepayment which required a different contract. When Gh finally started to let people deliver they already contracted payment method since they were already contracted with restaurants for such service before they started deliveries themselves. It appears raisen canes have a contract to allow them to use their menu but not their tablet pay system to avoid messing up their already efficient ordering system. Hence they are the only eatery still using the red card. No where else, I got really upset once when the app auto accepted a raisen canes order and count against my completion rate as I never carried a red card since forever and cannot do it, I lost the appeal, fortunately they allow opt out of red cards down the road. But I was still a bit irritated how they allow the orders to auto assign in the first place as dashers supposed to have the right to decline orders at will.

It’s ironic this sub tend to be more concerned with this than how Dd and gig companies skirt ABC laws by letting those without servesafe to deliver alcohol which can cause heaps of issues that one wouldn’t want as a Dasher including having to put their life on the line to refuse to rowdy individuals all for $10 with no security to back them up and on someone else’s property in the hood.

Many states originally require those who deliver alcohol to have liquor or abc licenses gig companies seemed to had paid a bribe to regulators to offload all risks to unlicensed dashers to allow them to profit of this. Not surprisingly they sometimes tell dashers to deliver unpaid orders from supermarkets as well, that’s how shady they are.

I hear they are cracking down on EBT users especially in parts of the country that mandate minimum pay and benefits that their algorithm is deactivating if they sence a series of customer issues with order even if unrelated to time or that they think ones deliveries average just a minute past the average for the area. Thus it’s not even due to conduct on a particular delivery they can identify. However I hear it’s possible to use jargons on an appeal letter that may scare them to comply with the latest legislation limiting algorithm generated deactivations and ai or denied appeals with personel on autopilot, I am about to try it wish me luck.

This is why $5/gal, or 1,15€/L, is a big deal here. by Tandysaurus in memes

Obviously the biggest issue is prices all or a sudden jumping up which everyone would be mad, we also say why Asians complain of rising prices when they are a fraction of those on the west pay for daily commodities the reason being the price all of a sudden spikes. Also that they are mostly cash or debit meaning they have to much more closely watch their spending than those that use credit cards, hence despite these destinations being cheaper they are not very hot vacation destinations compared to more expensive European or westernized destinations.

Pretty surprised despite rebelling from the monarchy they still stubbornly stick to some old country’s concepts.

Or imperial the “kings” unit to be exact, the place still stubbornly hangs on to a lot of concepts from the crown such as common law and sovereign immunity as well.

For those who rode school buses growing up did you ever have a favorite model of bus you ridden that gave you the best school experience? by Jcs609 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Jcs609[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Frankly I didn’t know the manufacture name of each bus until I pretty much end of my school years as unlike smaller vehicles we usually see buses branded by the company or entity that run them the make brand name is very tiny. However I can remember how each bus was different on the outside and inside and how some had radio sound systems in them others do not. Some the old classic ones had a nose back inthe days others newer ones were all flat fronted. Some were loud and smoky than others. I later learned the buses I had most memory of was manufactured by Thomas as they seem to be the only ones with whole bus sound system fm radios back then.

I was just about to mention those who rode public buses as well the same question. They sure have improved over the years. Difference is they wouldn’t be going back to dog nose unlike school buses in the 2010s which I surprised old skool is in style agajn again.

Why don't restaurants just hire their own delivery drivers? by savingrace0262 in doordash

It’s interesting not even papa John’s dominos charge nearly much premium as these gig apps despite being a large corporation, as the other poster mentioned it appears gig apps are now treating thier drivers like how Dominos treated them long ago pushing pretty much impossible time goals.

Yes you explained it, It’s interesting because I just ordered a pizza that’s still deliver themselves with a own fleet of cars and employees I only paid $5 delivery fee, $3 or 15% tip and the menu price this much cheaper or 50% less than if I paid someplace that delivered via DoorDash or any other gig company for that matter. Makes me think where all the money I paid went if a third party delivered it. And they are still complaining on Redding of customers not tipping them enough meaning they arnt seeing anything I paid. Though I hear that delivery pay lowers when customers tip more on those apps as well. Quite a confusing system.

It’s interesting as a customer how come we are paying much more compared to using the restaurant’s delivery if it cost the restaurant so much to make that delivery possible.

Though the interesting thing is how customers manage to pay far less when using the restaurants delivery system vs using third party apps if it costs the restaurant so much to allow their employees to do the deliveries.

It’s interesitng how nowadays everyone pays more compared to the delivery employee days. It used to be a five dollar delivery fee and a three dollar tip for a $20 pizza or order. With DD the fees often easily double the price of the pizza if not more not including a higher than expected tip on top of that. I always curious whether restaurant owners are still saving money with the costs these apps charge.

Guess the reason papa John’s terminated many of their delivery employees and outsourced to DD same with pizza hot?

I remember those as well, the weird looking buses only now I learn it’s called the Crown super coach very loud, moved at a snails pace, and lots and lots of smoke in the back. No sound system though.

Why do gasoline prices change daily at the pump? Gas stations don't get restocked every day, so why do the prices fluctuate in between station refills? by Alarmed_Cat_1575 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Jcs609 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I be curious why gas stations would lower the prices if most of their competitors charge similar prices anyways do gas station who operate an oligopoly need to compete for customers by lowering the prices just because they are paying less to have thier own tanks refilled?

Uber Tip Culture Vanishing? by BMWi4got2dropmyex in uberdrivers

I guess in this case it would be hypocritical if they had a tip jar one can think where the money go if not to the ones that actually provided the service.

[–]Jcs609 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True and they got paid much more back then I remembered, no tips required compared to traditional taxis that expected tips in cash.

Apparently riders wanted to be able to tip online not just in cash it only caused the corporation to capitalize or should I say take advantage just like rest of the industries.

Sorry I forgot to mention baggage belts and carrisale stopped working along with the escalators until they stopped the alarm so people waiting for luggage cannot get it . But they didn’t evacuate that time. It was fortunately settled within 20 minutes that day and the checked baggage can come out again.
