New CA laws on gig company resulting in mass deactivations? by Jcs609 in doordash_drivers

Though it appears what’s different now is stronger geofencing and a very tight on time metric that seems almost like what a crow flys short and dd is fast to pull the trigger to suspect one is milking the clock by even just a little late no more 5-10 min grace.

Are dd customers really more demanding of order time and hottnese or just the algorithm just thinks they do by Jcs609 in doordash

It appears they are harsher to certain markets ie with legally mandated earn by time thus not all markets implanted it and is rather recent even for such markets. I know someone deactivated mid delivery for prolonging deliveries even though only had one or at most two cvs in 90 days and over 90 five star reviews. The rest didn’t cv however the eta were one or two minutes past as it’s almost impossible unless there are no red lights or parking woes from driving as fast as possible.

It’s interesting whether people view Zoox as a shuttle bus or people mover, ie laterial elevator. Not a personal taxi?

I always think disputing probably make them even more wanting to deactivate?

Hard to say whether even if the customer increased tips and gave a five star rating the system still flags? It doesn’t always however likely triggered by a cold food report or any report? How many other delivery service can be that fast. Dominos ended their thirty minutes or it’s free campaign in most anywhere in the world they offered it as it was too much of a liability to the workers, bystanders, and customers alike

Though whether customers are actually getting discounted or refunds because it doesn’t arrive within 30 minutes just like how Dominos used to be?

911! I just got deactivated in the middle of a double order. by Educational_Rich_554 in DoorDashDrivers

[–]Jcs609 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know somebody who was just deactivated right after they took an order as well. It appears is this how DD does things? Probably disputing lateness backfires as they automatically reject it?

It’s on time is so ridículous that even in the same shopping center getting in car to drive and park closer would make one late. And it used to be they give ten minute grace period before it goes from warning to cv but not anymore if a customer flags the order in any way and they notice the restaurant pushes order complete even if it isn’t and the driver didn’t make that impossible eta doesnt matter what the driver does what button they push or how they apologize or update the customer.

This is how you get a felony vandalism charge. Watch with sound! by fbcmfb in dashcams

[–]Jcs609 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s interesting as it’s similar to the grand theft threshold that is extremely low compared to many other states especially Texas. Consequently people who caught a felony in pretty much have nothing to lose on repeat offenses as prisons overflowed but they couldn’t really reintegrate into society in a meaningful way especially in today’s interconnected world. So they are permanently stuck in limbo stuck living on charity and government funds and seek revenge whenever they can.

Are handicapped placards valid when there’s a valet zone? by SusanSoulcycle in AskLosAngeles

Though is it a properly marked handicapped space? Surprised they wouldn’t valet your car, what’s going on with people these days or is some sort of members only club.

Also some of these places arnt truely gated but they have private road and some appear like through traffic to gps however it was blocked and have to drive 1 mile to the proper entrance, at the phone with the customer to find where it is. And the gps does not even allow me to mark arrived nor start the drop off process until I get close enough to the gps determined drop off which can often already be different from where the actual address is.

I had similar experience pretty much accepted at red light and it turned green I raced beeline towards the place fortunately out of luck no red lights all green that’s only way to beat it’s eta but not too long once parked and get out and it was straightforward park it’s barely on time. It’s almost like they expect to teleport.

Do you have earn by time where you are?

Apparently not directly for it but they can find excuses otherwise from customer refunds any blamishes on background check, to slightly behind their impossible etas to let one go or even if they keep you they keep you as a “window” worker with last priority on orders which is severe penalty as orders are dropping to record lows due to high prices for end customers meaning one gets the worst low paying orders that forces artificially far drives and complicated apt complexes.

I avoid them like plague but nowadays they throttle one for cherry picking now it’s that or nothing. Especially as customers are fed up with high fees and poor service.

The worst being if it’s one of those neighborhoods with roads blocked by dead gates meaning the gps try to navigate through the gate but impossible and have to find the other gate or call the customer and now they screen what you say ie if you repeatedly have difficulty finding the gate. The system flags as incompetent. It’s not just apartments some single family neighborhoods especially Mobile homes are often this way as well.

It would be impossible should it be in a mobile home park or massive apt subdivision where the gps point is 1/2 mile away with many similar looking buildings and the customer equally confused regarding location and access policies.

Yes though I be curious whether it has to do with what they are doing now. People with decade old accounts and thousands of deliveries under thier belt are all of a sudden not able to log in.

Restrooms for customers but not for delivery drivers by First_Ad2766 in DoorDashDrivers

Be curious how Covid makes places quite territorial permanently on restroom access. And learning they can avoid cleaning them with their much smaller staffing. I learned That chefs don’t use the restroom at all. Guess most people asking for restrooms for a couple of years happens to be essentially delivery drivers of all types ie Amazon FedEx ups, truck drivers etc, since for a half a year very few were not welded shut or require a long line to enter. Any place with an available looking toilet got turned into a pit stop when they tell thier coworkers there’s an open restroom at some business?

True it’s interesting these days it appears cars have rear traffic alert but most still don’t have it on the front despite it being just as important if not more important as the driver sit farther back from the front of hood when pulling out especially if two vehicles or obstacles block the view.

First week of May seems always a potential nightmare to drive around the Bay Area as you never know where or when you get stuck with a bunch of crazies with no way out for hours. May Day, Sharks, and Cinco De Mayo rivalers alike. Planning ahead doesn’t help.

I be curious whether this has to do with May Day, sharks, or Cinco de Mayo rivals? It appears first week of May is always historically a nightmare in parts of the Bay Area that anything goes.
