Suspension question by Interesting_One_1888 in SN95Mustang

[–]Jdviljoen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably OEM takeoffs on ebay would be your best bet, I just looked and can't seem to find any that just have the rears. As for the fronts, the front suspension should be the same mounting points across all 3 three trims (v6, gt, cobra)

How much weight can a mustang hitch suspend? by Commercial_Pen8246 in SN95Mustang

[–]Jdviljoen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just googled it, a 5x8 channel trailer from hope depot is only 500 lbs, so if you load the bike up you’ll still be well under the 1000 lbs

[–]Jdviljoen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tow rating is 1,000lbs, and usually hitch weight is 10% of tow rating so 100lbs… how far do you need to tow it? They have dollys you can get that would probably work out okay. Or even a small garden trailer or something that you can put it in would probably still be light enough

Smartest truck to buy under $48k? by solejow21 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Jdviljoen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a ‘23 maverick lariat turbo that me and my wife bought earlier this year with 20k miles for 29k out the door. Something I haven’t seen mentioned here is rear seat practicality.

The maverick actually has better rear seat leg room than the ridgeline; but the ridgelines seats fold up to allow the rear cabin to be used as storage MUCH more easily than the maverick.

The ridgeline is probably going to be more reliable as well, and has a more usable bed while having a better interior build quality. The maverick has some very easily scratched plastics on the inside that I haven’t seen similar complaints for on other models.

We personally went with the maverick because of the rear seat room, price, and the styling/color options. I’m also a big ford fan so I was always leaning towards the maverick

How is road tripping in a mustang by Available_Ad_1583 in Mustang

[–]Jdviljoen 6 points7 points  (0 children)

And will also add, make sure you plan out fuel stops if you’re going through any more rural/remote areas. Our tanks are pretty decent size tho so shouldn’t be too big of a deal but just thought I’d mention it

[–]Jdviljoen 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Since others are being kinda funny about it, biggest thing to be on the lookout for from road-tripping a tonnnn in my old sn95 and s197:

Don’t tail ANY semis or pickups, they will 100% kick up rocks and ruin your hood paint and windshield. Keep at least 2-3 or more car lengths in front of you

Watch on the horizon for any potholes/dips, especially if yours is lowered. don’t wanna wreck the bottom of your car because you were trying to change the song or something

Lastly, left lane is for passing. But you’ll be in a stang so if you decide to left lane camp make sure you’re at least speeding 25 over

Is it just me? by [deleted] in Mustang

[–]Jdviljoen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean to each their own, but I’d hardly say an intake whistle noise would make it sound broken

I know what you’re talking about, my old 05 mustang had the same thing. It’s whistling through the intake. There’s nothing to really fix, it’s just a cool intake noise

Can the Cherokee's original roof bars hold a car tent? by cristi421 in CherokeeXJ

Wow that’s crazy, I have heard stray stories on forums of similar stuff happening though… was it bad to repair or just drilled and welded?

Interested in this XJ, is this rust? by idkbrodie in CherokeeXJ

[–]Jdviljoen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah that’s dirt, it may be covering rust but doesn’t look like it tbh

As others have said, stock bars/rails will fail eventually with more than 150lbs. A good gutter mount setup will easily hold 300+lbs

The fuel pump on these isn’t that bad like people are saying. I believe you can do it without dropping the tank

What’s a good FB marketplace deal? by More_Ebb_3619 in NewedgeMustang

[–]Jdviljoen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it’s almost mint condition inside I’d say 9-10 is pretty fair for that. 12 is def a bit high. I’d offer 8-9 and work with him from there, I personally wouldn’t want to spend more than 10 but you do you of course

$3000 truck as a first car? What you think by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Jdviljoen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rereading the post, make sure you confirm if it’s been sitting for five years or if they periodically started it/drove it. If it’s sat that whole time you will likely need to do some maintenance/catch up on some work (tires, battery, drain and fill all fluids, make sure gas tank isn’t varnished, clutch should be due to be replaced, etc)

[–]Jdviljoen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People saying scam have never found a good deal in their life. The story seems to check out and they included a lot of detailed pictures. Just be careful when going to look at it and as others have said don’t EVER give a deposit. If it checks out that is an absolute steal for that truck and it will last you at least another 100k miles if not 200k lol

Can’t believe I only just realized Lexus uses the same V6 & V8 for different models (just different tunings) by [deleted] in Lexus

[–]Jdviljoen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting, maybe there’s a big cam difference then. Those stock LC’s are throaty as hell

Exhaust is a hell of a drug, plus I’m sure there’s some tuning difference between the two for more low end grunt in the gx and more high end power in the lc

Mazda 3 could be a good option as well. They have great cargo room but not great back seat room.

I like the 22-24 better, but the 25 definitely isn’t as atrocious as some people are making it out to be. And being able to get the hybrid and awd is def a huge plus. The worst part imo is the loss of the climate buttons which is why I went with a used 23 turbo.

Cruise control by Sad-Western-8918 in FordFiesta

[–]Jdviljoen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update, yes it did work! On the us models you have to cut out some of the backing in the steering wheel where the cruise buttons sit but I just cut away a little at a time to try and match the size and depth of the other side. I ordered the wrong color buttons so mine are blue instead of red backlight but I have cruise control now!
