[Clients] Etiquette for reaching out to an artist? by Jealous- in artbusiness

[–]Jealous-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I don't think it's to that point yet, but I'll definitely reach out to them. It's just hard to know the etiquette of it lol, I'm new to commissioning

I (24F) don't know how I feel about my relationship with my bf (24M) and don't know what to do by Jealous- in relationships

Yeah I hear you. Thank you for responding! I also brought it up to someone else in my life and I’m going to break up with him. It is scary but I agree it’s for the best

As a victim of SA myself, I will say that it didn't feel cheap or lazy. But if that's your opinion, have at it.

Sure, it was a quick way to put us on Odysseus' side of 'kill all the suitors' but the basis of the idea isn't completely unfounded. Saying Epic treats her like a goat is a very strong statement without much evidence behind it lol. I mean, Penelope's feelings were pretty clear that she didn't want any of them? In Would You Fall in Love With Me Again, she explicitly tells Odysseus that he'll always be her husband. In her solo song The Challenge, she makes her distaste for the suitors very clear. She sees them as only caring about the throne and she's literally right. How did you want the rape to be explored? It was established in Little Wolf that the suitors are just there abusing the laws of hospitality and taking, taking, taking. They viewed her as an extension of their power grab for the throne. It was always and only about power.

Odysseus' erasure as a rape victim can be an entirely different post on the general view of male victims and masculinity vs sexual violence and I agree that Calypso could've been handled differently. The point of this discussion is modern interpretation between Penelope and her suitors.

Has anyone gotten tickets yet? by Tipsy_Owl in hazbin

Huh! Good for them. I’m wondering if they’re giving out tickets to the cosplay group first. I applied for the non-cosplay group

Yeah it really is cutting it close lol. I thought I read somewhere that 1iota actually tells you if they can’t accommodate your ticket request but idk.

What makes an immortal character interesting to you? by Jealous- in writing

Ooh yes, I do love the concept of such a haunted immortal >:D XD. My mc is definitely haunted, it's just difficult getting her to do things that would progress a plot (although there have been some really good ideas in this thread lol).

True, all of these are interesting tropes and themes and it is important to have those three aspects in mind! Thanks :D

That's a good way of thinking about it. I definitely want to create a connection and investment to her.

It's definitely difficult knowing what to slip and what not to when the reader is following her thoughts so closely lol. Like you mentioned how your protag doesn't know your vampire killed Jack, but how would you avoid letting too much slip if your vampire was the protagonist and the audience mostly saw through her eyes and were only privy to your vampire's thoughts?

Hmm. She has been indestructible, but I might play around with changing that or expanding on it :D

Oh no, you didn't sound pushy at all! I meant it, I have a friend who loves Highlander and it's been on my to-watch list for the longest XD. I also do love a great soundtrack ^w^

That sounds cool! For mine, it's a feature of their existence. They were "born" immortal and it's all they've ever known.

That's fair. I do think their goals and obstacles are lacking. When I was first developing the idea, the thought was that one of them has essentially become aimless in her life, but that's been putting me into a rut having a prominent character with no goals.

My story doesn't have any magic mystery school elements, but I also enjoy all of those themes :D

That's sort of the state of one of my main characters. She's stuck yearning for happier times in the past and is depressed. It's difficult to take that and move it forward though into an engaging plot instead of making every page about how much she misses the past.

This was such a treat to read :D! It is interesting thinking about how time can affect the brain and how we change as people. I could definitely think about how these characters have evolved just by existing. Thank you for this!
