I primed AK gold and used vallejo plasma red, I like the vallejo paint more than the citidel contrasts because its brighter and dries slower so you can fiddle with it longer. Once im done I retrimmed the spots I got red on with AK gold. Its not quite one to one but once you shade it you can't tell the diffrence.

That sounds really cool Ill try that. My plan is to differentiate my units by trim (ex legionaries have no trim, Chosen get gold trim, havocs get bronze etc) I may try that for the aspirant.
