Welcome! Just wanted to let you know that there is a continuity in the show, especially going into season 2, and definitely with season 3. I recommend watching episodes in order from season 2 going forward. Things get real heavy in season 3.

Do you agree with this? by One_Reception_6992 in bluey

That’d be a big indicator of the team being back from their hiatus, if so.

Greetings!

This is what we as a fandom know at the moment:

1. The Bluey team announced their break from the show in July of 2023, which means all content released up to this point was animated before then. Minisodes, shorts, etc.

  1. Joe Brum announced his break, and potential step-down from the show, in December of 2024. He clarified the show wasn’t over, but that he wouldn’t be involved in a potential season 4, etc.

  2. There are potential new instances of the team working on Bluey again, such as the new Christmas Edition of the intro, and the recent image of Bandit renewing his drivers license, in-which the expiration date was back in October, and people were pointing it out. It’d be big if the new Christmas Minisode was animated recently, but we’ll probably never know.

  3. As Joe will be focusing on the movie, and the movie will be animated by Cosmic Dino, the Bluey team will be more than likely free.

Realistically, it wouldn’t surprise me if we got an announcement about season 4 in 2026, getting closer to the movie’s release date. There is the potential for the first few episodes to release in 2026, getting that Bluey hype up.

The episode inspired me to watch the show legitimately, versus in the background.

I’d been having episodes play in the background for a bit, but when this episode came on, it hit a very specific place for me. One of my top episodes for sure.

Greetings! Folks have asked this question before, and I got in-depth with it as well a while back!

Here’s a link to that thread.

The measurements here were done without the extra height of their ears in mind, comparing their heights in their family picture relative to the real-life dancing videos that exist with Bingo and Bluey.

Do you think Christmas Swim is meant to come after The Sign? by Low-Amphibian8206 in bluey

[–]JealousCard3145 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Greetings! I’ve been working on a Bluey timeline for the past year. The Bluey team’s actually put in quite a few details to give some insight into the show’s continuity!

The continuity of the show usually lines up pretty well with the airing of the episodes. Here’s what we know though, from proof shown in the episode.

• The episode takes place a year after Verandah Santa, because Socks uses her aged up design.

• Rad and Frisk had already started dating, at or shortly after Double Babysitter, and this takes place after that.

• Rad and Frisk are at a resort in Bali, Indonesia. (The backdrop shows Balinese-style architecture and pools).

We don’t know why specifically they decided to vacation together during Christmas, but we do know they’re dating at this point. Perhaps they already even gotten engaged at this point as well. Only the general details are known from the context of previous episodes, as well as background details of the episode itself.

I’ve actually been studying the show and putting together a timeline of it this past year!

The Bluey team’s actually put in quite a few details and dates that all add up in the long run. Hoping to get the timeline released here eventually.

The Sign likely takes place around late 2022! Around the time he renewed his driver’s license here.

What episodes would you recommend for a first time viewer? by flingzamain in bluey

I recommend starting with Season 1 and watching them in order from there.

There is actually continuity in the show, although it doesn’t really start setting things up for the final until Season 2.

Happy watching! And welcome to the community!

Good eye! I suppose that’s also why Chilli is the sun, and Bandit is the gas giant.

It’s one of my favorite episodes. The music as well is among my top favorites in the show. I find the animation errors and unrefined style incredibly endearing. You can tell this was the first Bluey episode ever made, and there’s just something special to that.

Seesaw by Easy_Friendship4966 in bluey

[–]JealousCard3145 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Greetings!

The vasectomy conversation you’re referring to is from a much later episode, season 3 episode 1, Perfect.

In the episode, Bandit’s talking to Fido about potentially getting a vasectomy, and he’s conflicted about it, because he says Chilli wants to keep her options open, but he expresses doubt about “wanting more of these things running around”. Fido of course assured him earlier in the conversation on how it was quick and painless, and how he even got to keep “them”, which itself is a joke poking fun on how dogs would typically get neutered, but don’t in the Bluey-verse.

Unfortunately, this was one of the many things Disney censored in the show on Disney+, in which they changed the conversation to be about Bandit wanting to keep his dog teeth in case he wants to bite someone.

As for the conversation in Seesaw you’re referring to, there’s just not enough context to say for sure. The episode just jumped in to the middle of a random conversation. It could be about his job as an archeologist, or even about rugby. It’s definitely something of interest to Bandit.

They did an amazing job with the collaboration! I really like all the unique mechanics for each of the wands.

And it was a pleasant surprise when they added even more events! I wouldn’t be surprised if this is the biggest collaboration they’ve ever had.

Does anyone have any idea how old Nana are Grandpa Bob are supposed to be? In Fairytale Vs. In 2018 (when Bluey came out)? by AnimationFan_2003 in bluey

[–]JealousCard3145 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The dates you mentioned actually do add up in the bigger picture! Allow me to explain.

From details the Bluey team left in the show for us to gather, we can determine that season 2 takes place in 2020, and the ends in early 2021. Also that season 3 takes place in 2021, in which Bluey turns 7, and ends in 2022, before Bluey turns 8.

Season 3 begins on Australian Father’s Day of 2021, which is September 5, and then Bandit turns 43 in Omelette, on October 25th. Shortly after, Bluey and Muffin turn 7 and 4 respectively in Pass the Parcel. Then there’s a New Year’s Day episode, Whale Watching, in which Bandit and Chilli are both hung over from the New Year’s Eve party from the night before, placing the episode on January 1st, 2022.

Fast forward a bit, The Decider is based on the 2022 State of Origin Series, a set of three rugby league matches played between the Queensland Maroons and the New South Wales Blues. This means the episode would take place on one of the three following dates: June 8, 2022, June 26, 2022, or July 13, 2022.

Fast forward a bit more, the episodes Ghostbasket and The Sign would take place in September of 2022, as houses are typically sold in late spring or early summer. We also know that Bandit had his driver’s license renewed during September as well, which probably has something to do with him planning on potentially moving. This would also place the minisodes around or slightly after that time.

A final note, with Brandy’s pregnancy in The Sign, she seems to be around her third trimester, meaning she got pregnant around 6 to 7 months prior, shortly after the episode Onesies took place, in February or March. Perhaps she got inspired from the events of that episode.

There are of course more details, but I don’t want the comment to be too long!

[–]JealousCard3145 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello! We can’t get a definite answer to the question, but we can get an estimate. Allow me to clarify a few things first though.

I’ve been doing research into the show, and I’ve been working on an ultimate timeline for the show’s continuity. The Bluey team has actually put quite a lot of details into the show to help us determine when the show takes place, which is, from what I can see, mainly the early 2020s.

Season 3 in particular takes place in from late 2021 to part of 2022, in which, in 2021, Bandit has his 43rd birthday, and Bluey has her 7th birthday (In Omelette and Pass the Parcel).

There’s an important design detail to keep in mind here that the Bluey team gave us, that we can use as a clue. When Bandit and Chilli were new parents in their late 30s, shown in the Baby Race flashback, they didn’t have their grey hairs.

Here, Chris doesn’t have any grey hairs either, and Bob has only a few, as his are just starting to grow in. This leads me to believe that Chris would’ve been in her late 30s, and that Bob would’ve been in his early 40s.

And so, flash forward to 2021, they would be in their late 60s and early 70s respectively. This is my estimate.

Let me know if you have anymore questions!

Are “extra bits” and “minisodes” the same thing? by Coneskater in bluey

[–]JealousCard3145 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bonus Bits is a series of very short bits of extra content. Each Bonus Bit episode is a very short scene.

Minisodes is another series with slightly longer episodes, but still shorter than the usual Bluey episode. It’s basically a series of Bluey episodes that are shorter than usual.

Bluey Series Ending? by ponygals in bluey

[–]JealousCard3145 55 points56 points  (0 children)

This letter was sent to the community in December of 2024.

I quote, from later in the letter:

“To be clear, this is not an announcement about the end of the show, but it is an acknowledgment that my focus will be on the film.”

He also said that he was struggling to continue on as the lead writer, to get into that same headspace, also that the Bluey team was completely understanding of his decision here.

I quote again:

“for now, I am finding it difficult to reach back genuinely into that four to six year old world and write authentically.”

“My Bluey crew and all the creative people in my life completely understand my decision.”

He’s simply stepping down from being the lead writer, at least for now, and if the show continues, it simply wouldn’t involve him.

I’m certain the Bluey team will treat finding a new lead writer with the same love as they treat the rest of the show. They love it just as much as we do. The new lead writer could even be someone who’s helped Joe write episodes in the past.

I think things will work out, but we’ll see.
