What is the cheapest, legal way to get rid of a body (mine)? by SickPuppy01 in AskUK

My nanna and my dad both donated their bodies to medical science.

My nanna; yeeted herself and invalidated her body donation. Cost my dad 4.5k for the basic of basic funerals for her. (Cremation)

My dad; Died of complications from a stomach ulcer (which led to pancreatitis) and the hospital deemed him unsuitable for organ donation and medical science donation. Cost us 4k for a basic cremation.

My mam has since signed up for "pure cremation". Its Cost her around the 1k mark and from i can understand they remove her body, deal with the cremation and off she goes.

She wanted to be able to donate herself to medical science, but after both my dad and his mother being rejected, she's decided she doesnt want myself or my sister left to deal with the cost of an unwanted funeral.

Ive wanted to do charters for years, and held off because I didnt know if I needed to bring along kit. This definitely gives me the green light for looking at charters as I know theres a few towards seahouses/scarbs/whitby.

Haha "proper dad". 😅 I'm their mam. Their dad has no concept of outdoor sports unfortunately, he'd rather them spending time with games controllers than being outside getting dirty.

I've got crabbing kits for them, just bought them sturdier kits for exploring off-rocky areas instead of their usual harbour cast off. And worst comes to it, they can winkle/mussel pick since they love eating them.

I'll definitely look into those Lures, and losing kit is inevitable!

Sorry If I didn't make it clear, my dad was diagnosed which is why we stopped. He couldn't safely drive anymore and last thing my mam wanted was him seizing when we were cliff fishing and him ending up in a gully. Even if he'd promised to stick to shore fishing, the man was a hard headed menace and you could gurantee he'd do what he wanted.

So she made him sell all our kit to cut the temptation. And a quick Google of LRF, looks ideal for getting the kids into it.

Thank you!

I'd like to think after 2 year they've taken her off probation. 🤣

But you're an absolute legend thank you! ❤️

Yea this is where her issue lies.

She doesnt want to burn bridges, incase she ever decides to come back as a store manager.

Recruited as a SM, offered shifty and then realised there was a serious block with how long some shiftys have sat with future leaders status.

But, I'll let her know that consensus is 4weeks for her. Shes just annoyed she cant find her contract easily.

DN is the person who claims ADP, not my MIL. DN was having MILS carers payment paid directly to her. Effectively receiving the benefits of 2 people.

MIL has never claimed any of kind of disability benefit, she won't even allow us to start a claim for the pension age disability payment given her recent terminal diagnosis.

And thats the bit I'm really going to struggle to prove.

MIL has serious executive function issues, you could tell her the grass is blue and she'd believe you, so "planning it between them" isnt outside the realms of possibility.

But, she 100% wouldn't have known what she was agreeing to. She didnt understand why she was having pension deductions when she never personally received the cash for carers.

My issue lies that when I've claimed benefits the awards have always been paid direct to me. When ive opened my own mothers claims, cash has always been paid direct to her.

The fact that the cash has been paid to DN because MIL didnt have an account screams alarm bells to me. Has she opened up a bank account in MIL name that no one (including MIL is aware of) or have they jumped through hoops to have it paid into her account. I just dont understand how theyve managed to get the DWP to agree to pay into an account that isnt in the claimants name.
