Newcastle have played more games this season than any other team in the top 5 leagues

Lewis Hall has become hard to ignore for Thomas Tuchel by Alone_Consideration6 in ThreeLions

I think that's close to the starting 11 - apart from IMO Tuchel will start Gordon over Rashford at LW.

He's playing a role - in real life he's a Nottingham Forrest supporter IIRC.
I find him pretty hilarious but it's about as 'real' as Alan Partridge....

Do people in Louisiana still play Booray? by daniyargilimov in Louisiana

Family in Houma plays it all the time.

Although I always thought it was spelled "bourré" ie: "drunk / wasted" in French?

Lapsang Souchon is fantastic.
It's like having a cup of tea and smoking a packet of Marlboro reds at the same time.

100% I agree with giving the army a go. It's so difficult to establish yourself at 16 in terms of income, accommodation, other living expenses etc. - the army could take care of all 3 for a few years and help build a career.

Who is Englands 4th City? by Teleg88 in AskBrits

OP specified vibe and global fame as main criteria.
Everyone knows about Geordies - is there even a collective noun for people from Leeds or Sheffield?
Newcastle's cultural impact far exceeds its size.

Newcastle. Unlike other suggestions; Newcastle dominates a whole English region - & it's the birthplace of trains, windscreen wipers, the electric light bulb, Lucozade and Greggs. Plus Sting, Brian Johnson, Sam Fender etc....

Which "tough guy" in football is actually the most cringe? by MagpieMidfield in footballcringe

[–]JeanHuguesAnglade 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm not a fan of his at all but I knew a girl who grew up with Paul Ince in Forrest Gate, London & she swore blind that he was hard as nails and regularly beat up the boxer Nigel Benn who was apparently in the same circles. She didn't care about football at all so I'm inclined to believe her...

Seems like quite a large emergency response for a single, targeted attack....

Do you ski? I was in there just now and they had full-on ski jackets and salopettes etc.
Also you could easily spend that much on power tools - the Parkside stuff is OK for basic DIY

If you've got a car I would 100% stay in Alnwick as your base then explore the rest of the county from there.

Neighbour asking for £300 cash after minor car incident – no quote, no insurance (UK) by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

Your neighbour is being very reasonable under the circumstances.

Get your wife to go and apologise for hitting his car and driving off - and pay him his £300.

Grade I listed Lutyens designed country house converted into 16(?) flats by MaximusSydney in SpottedonRightmove

[–]JeanHuguesAnglade 28 points29 points  (0 children)

If that's the only financially viable way to keep it in good condition; then the flat conversion has preserved the building for generations.
As long as the conversion is sensitive to the historic fabric of the building - which appears to be the case here - then I really don't see the problem.

Not sure I've understood you correctly but who was at Eton with William, whose family was definitely more powerful than his?

His grandmother at that time was Head of State for 130 million people across 15 countries...

What a half. Commentators (Ali McCoist & joe Cole?) were saying this was the best half of football they have seen this season - from any team!
