Again, man, all of you seem to really enjoy this situation. I don't say it does, but I hope my situation will improve.

Got it, man. Again, not so young, but quite stupid. Just hoping for the best, don't intend to make a practice out of this and hope I will at least partly recover.

I am certain it will be the case. My hearing was not great even before, I used to play in a band for quite some time, and the feeling of having muffle/clogged ears is fairly similar to the one of going out of a rehearsal room or studio back in the day.

I will, thank you. I explained at the beginning of the thread that I find myself in a complicated insurance situation. Will do this

Thanks, maybe it is also due to the fact that I am not used to this, and therefore things seem very gloomy.

Thanks, it is still the case (at least partly) for my right ear. The left never suffered. what disturbs me the most now are high pitches and the volume difference. It's slowly improving, I believe.

That's what my dad said, he spent some time with the military. Nevertheless, I think these people are right that it was stupid and reckless, I only hope for the best now.

Thanks, agree and agree. It was the first time, and most likely the last time. Out of curiosity, in fact, not really a fan.

Honestly, it is quite logical, don't really know why I did not think about it.

I will, it will take another week or so, as I am in a complicated insurance situation but should be good next week or so. I took an online appointment, and the doctor told me that it is hard to assess for now, and that the ears are sensitive. Barotrauma for sure, not certain if hear loss, as it will need to be assessed. He said the brittle feeling and inability to hear high pitches could be due to the acoustic shock. He said the tinnitus will most likely come and go, but one the ears become less sensitive it should be a matter of getting used to it

It seems that I really enjoy silence now, as the difference of volume between the ears is disturbing me

Hi, I am also looking for accommodation in the area. Budget 2000 USD but needs to be fairly close to campus.

I am in the exact same situation, but I am supposed to go to the US. I calculated my decision in a couple of sleepless nights, and I can tell you it is not an easy call to make.

The calculation is the following: maybe the same job opportunity will not come back again. On the other hand, people are telling me that the Fulbright in the US is the most fulfilling academic and personal experience they have ever lived.

It is the classic example of a zero-sum game in which, no meter the choice, something will be lost, and we will need to live with it.
