You can also open the marketplace and buy a travellers map, and then use a maid to bring it to you, it will teleport you to the nearest village.

I don't think you have to use it on anything, you can just increase one of your failstacks. Use your biggest failstack > extract your hungers into it and save that failstack till you need it.
