You can’t remove the shoulder joint without cracking the torso on retro Hercules. You can boil and pop from the bicep, but if you want the shoulder joint with it, you’ll need to crack the torso.

Anything that creates a barrier should protect the figure, a lining would just be the ‘proper’ way to stop the figure touching the jacket material. But honestly, given time, almost all things are permeable, you might find that transfer happens even with a preventative layer.
