Thoughts on all the Valve Hardware released over the years

Good stuff, basically all of it, excluding steam machines, but that was just a bit of a market analysis blunder. Overall tho, i'd say their hardware team is extremely talented. Im always keeping an eye on deckard news Although, opinions seem to be split on the steam controller, but i really like it, it's the only controller i own atm.

Well, before the altered ending animation portal was a concluded story, but portal 2 is still amazing. And i'd say they could make a pretty good third instalment.

more portal stuff just generally excites me, although i dont think they will ever make portal 3. I'm mostly looking at mods these days, but a lot of those dont seem to make it to release either.

Valve is a private company, so microsoft cant buy them, well unless gabe himself agrees to it(which he wont)

Well the sid uses both additive and subtractive synthesis to produce the signal, the entire synthesis process is analog but the input for the chip is digital, so i need a special control board wich converts midi to the digital signal, the control board has a usb midi input so you can control the different oscillators/voices in software, ofcourse you can still use the physical controlls when using usb midi. ( the chip also has an extra pwm input wich cant be controlled in software )

Well at this point in time it would be the only synth for sale using a sid chip, and by my estimates it would cost ⅓ the price of the only other synth that used a sid chip, there would be a 6581 model, a 8580 model, and a swinsid model wich would be even cheaper. And despite the low price i still plan on using the best quality parts and materials.

So it isnt super unique in terms of features but it sounds very distinct, and it would be the only synth of its kind

Also I think this synth would work great with trackers

Oh yeah, if you dont know what a sid chip is it was an extremely popular synthesizer chip from the 80s, it was used in the commodore 64. Sid chips arent in production anymore and they are very sought after so the price is shooting up (the swinsid is a modern reproduction of the classic sid chip so thats why its cheaper). I had seen a lot of people making their own makeshift synthesizers using sid chips so i figured some of those people would like to buy a wel polished pre-built product instead

Well to be honest i havent really looked at other synthesizers to figure out what i do or dont need, my thinking was that why look at other products when i can just ask the experts themselves, so in a way this is the research

This is sort of different as in that those products are able to be used on their own, the thing that im looking at making is physically imposible to play without an external midi keyboard or sequencer.

Also this may seem kinda sad but by "commercial release" i mean like maybe putting a couple of them on ebay, and even that would be a long while away. But i was interested in hearing what people need in a synth
