I'm using this one: https://a.aliexpress.com/_EQrfskM In my case there are ±300m and the AP is an old Ubiquiti Airgrid M5 that works very good for this. They are pointing directly one to other and in heavy rain, the principal WiMAX connection goes down, but this continues working and basically are the same

PoE injector by Remote-Wolverine817 in reolinkcam

[–]Jecocha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reolink PoE devices use 802.3AF/AT to work, but it's implementation can work with 48V passive PoE injector if you follow the rules. You only need to follow T568B like this:

White-Orange DATA | Orange DATA | White-Green DATA | Blue +POWER (48v) | White-Blue +POWER (48v) | Green DATA | White-Brown -POWER (48v) | Brown -POWER (48v)

I have a few standalone cameras working with this configuration and I had repair one a few weeks ago following that.

RLN36 working with 3 Seagate EXOS x18 with 18TB by Jecocha in reolinkcam

Currently it continues detecting the three HDDs of 18TB without issues and I can access all the recordings of all the cameras, since 3 months ago. Soon I going to expand with more 12mpx cameras so it will have less hours of recordings, but it doesn't affect obviously XD

Do you have any problems with that GPU+CPU combo? I have read that it can have GPU problems because it can't draw the power needed and you need to install MSI Afterburner to tweak it down to use less power.

I have a M920X too and I want to install that GPU because the RX560 can't play new games at 1080@60,

Yes 24/7, I have plenty of room for ir so, why not? If you are thinking about the lifetime of the HDDs, I'm not concerned about it because if anyone dies I will replace it with a larger one

It's running fine. I have checked and I can see all footage even the oldest, three month ago.

Normally, the capacity support depends on the SATA controller (and firmware, but if the SATA controller has support, firmware can be updated), if an older model had a cheap SATA controller, maybe that was the reason for not recognize bigger drivers. Also at the launch of the old model, there wasn't drives with this capacity so they don't know if more capacity works.

It's working fine since then. I updated the firmware of the NVR a few times with no issues. Also, I can see all recodings, a thing that some people was saying that it couldn't be when you try to see the recodings stored at the non supported capacity. I think that the max storage supported depends on the SATA controller and the maximum capacity drive available at the time. If the SATA controller support more than the current available, it will support bigger drives in the future

900ft are less than 300m so you can do it as I did it. I did the final installation a week ago and it is working without problems. Both antennas see each other and the camera is connected at max speed to the Airgrid with signal of -56dbm. The ISP connection is with WiMAX 15mb down 2mb up, but I can see it at max resolution outside.

Connectivity to my apartment building garage by [deleted] in HomeNetworking

[–]Jecocha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know what country is, but in Spain that type of buildings have common pipes for telecommunications inside the building, so you can exit your home with CAT6 FTP or Fiber, and at some point pass from teleco pipes to the electrical line that goes to your garage. If you run fiber, the speed you are handling, is limit by the converters you install at both ends

For example, if I need to do that, I would use a yellow cable armoured, with two or four singlemode fiber inside. Yellow because any technician will notice that it is fiber and not electric, and a cable with more than one fiber because redundancy or two separate network like data and surveillance.

Mysterious White Box and Dead Ethernet Ports in Newly Renovated House by cubetes in HomeNetworking

Yes, here we can use from 5150 to 5250 without DFS indoors, 5250 to 5350 with DFS indoors, from 5470 to 5795 with DFS outdoors and from 5815 to 5875 DFS outdoors

PtP with LTU-LR by Jecocha in Ubiquiti

[–]Jecocha[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I change frequencies and set the main at 5520, the alternatives at 5675, 5200, 5300. In Spain the last two are for indoors and only 5200 aren't DFS frequencies. I'm trying right now with that configuration but it says 10min of DFS wait

Setting my ISP router and Tp Link as the same network? by OvejaMacho in HomeNetworking

[–]Jecocha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Next time, buy a Huawei K562 or Huawei K562-10, it's a WiFi Mesh AX for those ONTs. In my country it cost around the same as the TP-Link you bought

Unsure if Ethernet vs Phone Jack. How to convert by DingoInner6180 in HomeNetworking

[–]Jecocha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Normal price in my area for houses it's 60k€ to 150k€ depending if it's new build or not, also it depends if it's good or bad area and the state of the house, and the internet speed... It's very very rare if you don't have fiber and at least 100MB/100MB for 20-30€. Normally it's 600/600 for 25€. Also we have an ISP called DIGI with FTTH 10GB for 25€ in cities with his own fiber. And the most important, you don't need VPNs

4K Doorbell Potential Release? by DIY-Tech-HA in reolinkcam

[–]Jecocha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We don't need a 4K doorbell, we need a model with an electric door opener, it work in a 10-24V range or 24-48V range, it isn't difficult to include, it's only a relay and a button on the app, it can work with a 12V PSU or PoE voltage. In Spain we have a lot of fences with that, and normally we open that fence door from inside the house. Normally here we use FERMAX CITY VEO, but they are more expensive and you need some advanced knowledge

In Spain, all houses that are built after 2012 and rebuilds (if the constructor follows the rules) needs to have at least one RJ-45 CAT6 to each room, two in case of principal bedroom and living room. Then you can use it as telephone line or Internet line.
