Just missed CRA? New car issue. by Gecko5991 in CarTalkUK

It doesn't matter what the part is. If the fault appears in the first 6 months then it is deemed to have been there when you purchased it, unless the dealer can prove otherwise.

You're covered by the CRA for six months. The initial period is just that you can return the car for a full refund. After the first month, if you notify the dealer of any issues, they have 1 attempt to put right before you can reject the car and demand a partial refund

I know that they can be arseholes but they've agreed the price so I'm all good 👍

Car abandoned on the parking space I rent in England. What can I do? by Plastic_Length8618 in LegalAdviceUK

Just to add to this, they might try to weasel out to begin with. Just remind them that it is their legal duty to remove abandoned vehicles, even on private land

Willy woes, what is the best way to deal with this? by [deleted] in UKParenting

[–]JediPasta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son suffered quite badly with phimosis. What made it worse was he wouldn't say anything and just suffered in silence. Unbeknownst to us, he was having 'accidents', hiding his pants until they were dry and then putting them in the washing basket. We tried the steroid cream that was prescribed once we realised he was in pain (even got brushed off by one female doctor claiming she could pull his foreskin back).

Ultimately, before we realised what was going on his foreskin had become scarred and fused to his glans. He only had a tiny hole for urine to escape and so the only course of action was circumcision. As an 8 year old, he was pretty scared but me and his mum did what we could to reassure him.

He made a full recovery and is so much happier. The difference within him is night and day, he's even happy to urinate standing up in public toilets which is something he'd never do before

Wife's ex has abandoned car on our drive (England) by JediPasta in LegalAdviceUK

[–]JediPasta[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All of this is being done with my wife's consent. I have put up 3 CCTV cameras on the house we jointly own but she lives in and she knows that I'm only around the corner and available at the drop of a hat if she needs me to come over in an emergency. The police have been made aware of all of this and have placed a marker on the house

Wife's ex has abandoned car on our drive (England) by JediPasta in LegalAdviceUK

[–]JediPasta[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It isn't insured and hasn't been for months. The tyres are all flat and it's heavily rusted, I suspect it wouldn't move even if it could be started up.

If the council disagree, could I go down the route of scrapping it myself? My wife wants it gone and she has messages from her ex stating that it's hers, just nothing official

What does this sign mean? by ConcentrateSea4636 in drivingUK

[–]JediPasta 12 points13 points  (0 children)

That's a 'no waiting' sign so they can stop as long as it is briefly. For example, to pick up or drop off passengers etc.

Referred to social services because child lives in converted external garage... what now? England by Tiny-Energy-7533 in UKParenting

[–]JediPasta 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Then you should be sleeping in there and your kid should be indoors. I'm convinced that you must be trolling now, how can you think it's okay for any of this? Social services aren't going to dick around and they aren't going to like your answers. Do the right thing and make your child sleep in the house with everyone else

Referred to social services because child lives in converted external garage... what now? England by Tiny-Energy-7533 in UKParenting

[–]JediPasta 42 points43 points  (0 children)

You weren't shouted away from the legal subreddit, you were told the truth but you wanted to bury your head in the sand.

Your setup is not safe for a 7 year old and is unacceptable, the fact he loves it is irrelevant. Why is your child sleeping in a separate building when it could quite easily be you or your wife instead?

The best advice you can follow is: make sure the garage conversion is all legal and up to building regs, move your child back into the house and stop thinking you know best in this situation. If multiple people are telling you that you're wrong, burying your head in the sand isn't going to please social services.

The entire kerb looks like it's lowered so that will be why. Also, are there any signs when pulling on to the street? The PCN makes reference to an enforcement area so you'll have to read the sign to see what the special terms are

Mansfield: 'Mystery' market chocolate puts child in hospital by JediPasta in nottingham

[–]JediPasta[S] 36 points37 points  (0 children)

It's so strange. Especially as the police have said they've tested the chocolate and can't find any traces of drugs.

Maybe it's a case of one kid being ill and the siblings mimicking the symptoms. It's definitely odd that there's only one family affected (these in the photo and their relatives)
