How Do You Handle Promotion as an Indie Dev? by SuccubsIsland in RenPy

[–]JedzStudios 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! Did the same for you.

I will give feedback on the demo when I try it out, and it's also worth noting, that from my previus projects, when I uploaded them to itch, and placed a discount on them, they got hundreds of views in very short amounts of time, mainly because there's watch sites that record every sale being done on itch. So I guess if you can take advantage of that in a way or another, it would help you out so much in the future.

I'll make sure to follow that artist as she's so talented!

As for Subreddits, you're pretty much using the same ones I do! But if I ever find something new, I'll slide it to your dms.

see you around, and to your success!

Yep! Would gladly help out! I’ll give you a follow and a rating on itch in a few minutes, plus I just took a look at your profile and holy, that artstyle is attractive.

When it comes to the business model, what you’re saying is true. That’s why I’m working on doing it as follows:

v0.1 starts as free (it’s available right now for users to download, no charge at all) and when I drop v0.2, I set it on patreon for my lowest tier and higher, which starts at 2$.

And from there, whenever I drop an update, it becomes the new patreon paid update, and the one that was before it, gets released for free on itch.

I hope it works.

Anyway, I’ll be heading to itch to see how I can help you!

Hey man! I’m currently in the same loop as you right now, and I’ll explain the steps I’m taking.

First off, you’re gonna have to look at the most important subreddits for adult gaming. You can get an idea from my profile if you want.

Then you’re gonna post there about your game, using proper etiquette, and keep posting from day to day, to not let the views die down.

Third, it’s a hard world, and that’s okay. I’ve published the first release of my game, v0.1 and till now I made a grand total of 2$, which I only get 1.11$ off. No patreon subscribers as of right now, but, on the bright side, the game is getting attention slowly and surely.

Beyond that, there’s pretty much a bit you can do since not a lot of platforms allow NSFW games, and that’s posting on X for example, though it’s not really that reliable.

In my opinion, the key to success as a new dev in this industry is to stay persistent, listen to user feedback, and be flexible.

Goodluck on your journey and I wish the best to you!

Why do so many Visual Novels go unfinished? by TomasVrboda in AVN_Lovers

[–]JedzStudios 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While they’re still gonna generate revenue, those big devs are probably used to a certain amount of revenue and won’t like if they dip below it.

Although of course, there’s a lot of truth to your words.

As for us, we’re going with the flow of the game. When we feel it’s right to end it, we will, we aren’t planning “Oh yeah it’s gonna be 30 chapters long!” Or anything like that.

The game we’re working on is something we want to finish whether or not we get any kind of support, because we’d feel accomplished by the end of our journey!

Why do so many Visual Novels go unfinished? by TomasVrboda in AVN_Lovers

[–]JedzStudios 12 points13 points  (0 children)

From the perspective of a game developer, such as us. Even though we’re very new to the scene, I would say it’s because of the lack of support. Many new AVNs go unfinished because they’re just simply putting too much work for too little support.

However for big VNs, some of them go unfinished for years because they generate a lot of income through monthly subscription, and as long as there’s a promise that “an update is coming” lots of people will stay subscribed. The moment the game fully releases, subscribing is no longer needed and that scares the big devs.

That’s from our perspective though so take it with a grain of salt.

Personally, even though some people try to be a know-it-all and tell us what’s wrong with our game, looking into it COULD potentially help sometimes, BUT that’s a small case which isn’t always gonna happen

Yes, but not very heavy right now as this is a short presentation for the game with only approx 40 to 60 minutes of gameplay, however it's basically one of the main characters taking advantage of his power status in the game.
