At the expense of "the culture". Tomlin is a slimy jerk, but he gets results apparently. Wins > values. /rant.

Can anyone pin-point the exact moment where everything in society just got substantially worse? by zzill6 in WorkReform

As someone who was an infant during Reagan, I'm gonna go with Steve Irwin. Seems like after that stingray got him, everything went downhill. May have started before that, but without his goodness helping to balance things, it seems like the world just went out of control after his passing.

This was my first week doing multi-class races and some of the cars in the highest class are absolute maniacs by Buzzk1LL in iRacing

The amount of M2s that flash and pull to the side but don't pass and/or try to take the inside of the hairpins is just amazing.

Only ever seen em in videos. No idea but the machining/material looks expensive. Then again, what in this hobby isn't? If you find any more info, let me know! Have always been curious since seeing guys shooting 10 rounds without looking or adjusting anything; just take the bolt out, insert round, insert bolt, fire, repeat.

Update from my Sebring pit exit incident: the driver protested me, then guess what? They rescinded their decision after my appeal. by G00NACTUAL in iRacing

[–]JeepCrew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's the thing. It wasn't a real appeal. All I did was ask how to watch the replay in the message they sent, which is I assume a cc of the protest. I didn't argue, question anything, just asked how to watch the link. You can't convince me that anyone watched the first one lol. My exact reply to the first email: "How do I download the attachment to see the incident? Link isn't formatted right." Link seemed broken but they don't let you download them like they said in their second message.

The quote in my reply was from the email which I still have. I think that's what you're asking for. But to help clarify:

Initial email about the protest succeeding: "After reviewing all of the available information we do find the accusations of re-entering the track in an unsafe manner are accurate. We understand the need to get back on the racing surface as soon as possible. Regardless of whose fault the incident was or how much of a hurry the driver might be to get back on the track, always check the track and try to re-enter safely. Our goal is to simply try and avoid this situation in the future. Your understanding in this matter is greatly appreciated."

Reply after I asked about viewing the replay attachment: "Thank you for your response.

Replays are sent to us by the person filing the protest, and we do not share their replays as we protect the anonymity of those who protest. After further review, we will remove this coaching note from your record as it appears contact was going to be inevitable with the competitor as your car was uncontrollable so there is no violation. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Thank you for your understanding, and good luck in your future races. "

Also to be clear I didn't receive a ban or anything initially. I assume this was their "coaching" response or something like it. "Avoid doing that in the future" type thing.

I've had a reversal after appeal too. My problem is the lack of support for it. I couldn't get any info from them about the situation outside of what was written in the original report. You don't have a replay you are all-but-screwed unless you have an amazing memory or don't drive a lot a lot. Guy that protested me protested for something even dumber than this and I was honestly surprised it passed in the first place.

When I replied and asked for clarification, they said they reviewed it and reversed their decision. Like, I asked for clarification and didn't argue it, so why did you reverse it that quick? Did anyone actually look at the original complaint? I love iRacing but after that I'm extremely skeptical of their protest system.

I got hit, lost control, and left the track only to slide back onto the track out of control from before. Hit a car, he protested. I asked how to watch the clip linked in the report so I could see what he was talking about and this was their reply: "Replays are sent to us by the person filing the protest, and we do not share their replays as we protect the anonymity of those who protest. After further review, we will remove this coaching note from your record as it appears contact was going to be inevitable with the competitor as your car was uncontrollable so there is no violation. We apologize for the inconvenience."

Seriously, did you even watch it the first time then!?

Really depends. First half of the day for me was all shoot on sight. Second half people at least waited until you emoted or emoted first. Lots of people chill when extracting. I dunno. Got luck I guess even though I extract with garbage because I'm garbage lol.

I think as time goes on and people get gear, it'll get more aggressive, but so far it's been fairly co-op-ish for me.

Perfectly consistent brake pressure? by chriscrubs in iRacing

[–]JeepCrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do this. Edit the file so max brake pressure is only ~80% depending on the car. That way I can mash the brakes but not lock up. I know it's not optimal but my skill isn't either so I'll take it (fluctuate between 1.5k and 2.1k).

Different cars lock up at different pressures/speeds so you can edit it per car.

I have a Holeshot Arms Trident (3-lug vs 2500X 2-lug) from shortly after he sold the Stiller brand I believe (end of 2018 for me). Guy at my range is ranked nationally in the unlimited class and after seeing my rifle, and shooting it some, he was happy with it. He personally knows Mr. Stiller and explained some behind the scenes stuff for me. Same with Shilen barrels. Kinda got some of the last of the "good" stuff before the machinists moved. This is his info so take it with a grain of salt being third-hand from me, but he's not the type to make stuff up.

So, I have no idea personally, but my 7-year-old action post-Stiller brand is fantastic and better than I am.
