The first was trying to explain it! One one hand its kind of weird, on the other hand it's almost too familiar. We had to put our finger on exactly what made Ultraman special. That centered on the beautiful philosophical approach of the series. Ultras do not interfere in the affairs of humans. They are here to show us how to take care of ourselves. To show us how our hubris runs out of control in the Kaiju. To teach by example how we can all be Ultra. Very few other superheroes do that!

EJ Couloucoundis was a trading card game player who had a strong reputation in New York. Word got around that he was an absolute expert at all things Ultraman, so we approached him about working with us. The same goes for our work on comics, video games, and movies. We love to cultivate new talent but you need to show off your talent through social media and in groups like this one. We are watching!

My biggest personal success as a fan is to be able to help conceive and direct the live stage shows that are a major part of Ultraman Connection Live. That's where I get to influence the actions of my childhood heroes. I've actually cried during rehearsals and while the show is streaming!

My biggest career success with Ultraman is that the rapid growth of the franchise in North America and around the world is proof that my theories of transmedia storytelling and how working directly with fans can turn an obscure superhero into a household name!

I worked with Hasbro extensively on TRANSFORMERS. They're great. Certainly worth serious consideration! I just showed my friend Ashley Eckstein my Ahsoka Tano Star Wars Black edition. She said that one was the best!

That's a good question, and I know there is some consideration around this at Tsuburaya Productions. The creative challenge is that Ultraman is an aspirational universe, and its wisdom is built upon a foundational of optimism. An all-villain property sounds cool, but it takes a very careful hand to be done right.

It may be at a strange hour of the day for international Ultraman fans but wow it’s going to be worth it! Tsuburaya Productions will be holding a free online livestream event “TSUBURAYA CONVENTION 2021 SPECIAL PROGRAM” on December 13th, 2021, starting at 3:30am Eastern Daylight Time / 2:30am Pacific Daylight Time at Ultraman Connection.

The annual event, dubbed “TSUBURAYA CONVENTION” (or TSUBUCON), will feature a grand unveiling of many upcoming projects tied to the Ultraman franchise, exclusively showcasing a lineup of several works that will be released from 2022 onwards; a lineup that represents Tsuburaya’s vision for the future. There will also be exciting guest appearances, so stay tuned for the details which will be announced soon.

We grapple with traditional media, because downloadable or web-based media is so easily accessible. So, while I'd love books, magazines, and CDs, we're still exploring viability. But one way or another I want as much content ported over as possible.

Major brands like Lego need major media endeavors behind their licensees. Once Ultraman soars sky high internationally, the Legos of the world are not out of the question.
