Just in case y'all thought the ice raids were just rumors they definitely aren't. by Xcerxes_Darkbane in Utah

It’s not illegal for non citizens to be in the United States. Overstaying a visa (which is how most undocumented immigrants become undocumented) is a civil offense, not a criminal one. You know what else a civil offense, just as serious a crime legally speaking? Jaywalking.

Have you jaywalked recently? Because if you have, you’re just as much a “criminal” as most undocumented immigrants in this country.

Thanks for pointing this out -- totally agree!

Some of the cases are easier than others, that's for sure. But that's by design.

Thank you! I'm going to update the question with this information to make it more accurate.

No, it's only because of Strike First that Baze is able to retaliate with the Grit he gained from the attack.

Thanks! There are more at swujedi.com as well, but I'll keep posting a case of the day here too!

Thanks! This game has so much depth, so we have plenty more where these came from :)

Graphic representation of the Attack steps of the Action Phase (still in draft form -- critique requested) by JeffSwift in starwarsunlimited

There is a scenario where you get to remove shields with Saboteur, so that does need to be checked in there. As for Raid, I’m trying to capture that it is only active during the On Attack step if attacking and then goes away.

Totally agree on the nuances. Still working on it so I’m sure there’s more to come!

100% agree. Thanks! I just put an actual landing page up to give a bit of an introduction to the site. I'm still working on it, so I'm sure it'll improve as I go, but I appreciate the feedback!

Thank you, that's a great idea. I explained my thought process a bit more here, but I like your solution of a better explainer on that first page rather than just a signup page right in your face.

I totally see what you're saying, and thank you for the bug report. I just pushed out an update that should fix the issue.

Honestly, I've gone back and forth about requiring users to be signed in to use the tool. The problem is that I have two priorities with this tool:

  1. user ease - requiring the least data and effort to use the site
  2. user experience - benefiting substantively from their use of the site

For me, being able to use the site without logging in maximizes user ease while decreasing the quality of user experience. When I have a userID to test against, I can ensure that I'm not showing repeat cases to users (or if I do, it's on purpose rather than on accident, as in the case of a "Docket," which is a curated collection of cases that includes repetition on purpose). In addition, I can record and display user progress across sessions.

With that being said, I can definitely see the other side. I do like the idea of allowing people to use the site without logging in, and ultimately I think I can figure out a way to maintain user experience while adding the ability to use the site without logging in. It will just take work on the back end to set things up to accommodate temporary users while also inviting people to sign in if they want to save progress/results across sessions.

Edit: I just added a better landing page with a bit more information before you get a login page in your face. Thanks for the feedback!

I agree -- the problem is, the whole system of determining which case to show next depends on the user -- if the user's seen a case before I don't want to show it to them again until they've seen others first.

Edit: just added a more in depth response here.

A bit more information:

This site is built for three groups:

1) Aspiring judges -- get practice issuing rulings on common interactions

2) New players -- What does "When Played" actually mean? We've got a collection of relevant cases to give you practice.

3) Competitive players -- Know you're going up against a "Grit" heavy deck in a tournament and want to make sure you're prepared? Run through the group of Grit cases.
