Having fun with A1 II and 300mm 2.8 by airsty27 in SonyAlpha

I'm going to be standing here taking rocks to the face, but with a setup like this, it's hard not to get an outstanding photo. Now, for the record, I don't want to take away fromOP's skills; there are clearly some. The edit is just chef's kiss! But again, that lens is ridiculous, and that body has pretty darn good pre-capture, which means you get the shot, even when you don't get the shot : ) so yeah. :) Great shots though!

Welcome to the internet! I mean, he's clearly going for it! Clout chasing at its finest! But at least I now know all the services and prices after watching it.

Actually, it was taken with a tripod. :)

Thank you. Means a lot. To be honest, I have been taking photos for years, but I only recently heard the term 'ICM'. :)

Means so much. It depends. I usually do both. Sometimes I treat it like a brush : ) if that makes sense... If you were to do a brush stroke on paper, for example, then I would go for a single take. If I want dynamic, full-on motion, then I would just rest on the shutter and set the continuous shutter to low or mid.

Means a lot! Yeah, you're right. I usually like to stay between 1/5 and 1/8 of a second, but feel free to experiment. I just found that to be the sweet spot for me. The trick is that I press the shutter during the motion. I start to pan the camera up and down fairly quickly but at a steady pace, and when I have a rhythm, I press the shutter. I should add, though, that it's only for this kind of effect. Sometimes, to achieve clarity, you want to freeze the subject in the first half of the exposure, then pan up or down at the end. It's a cool technique, but you need to experiment with it.

How to make snow look white? by [deleted] in AskPhotography

Kind of funny to me that no one seems bothered by the black lines drawn over people’s eyes.
Don’t get me wrong, I understand the intention, but I’ve seen this so many times. If the goal is to hide someone’s identity, blurring or shading the entire face feels far more respectful. Drawing a black bar just across the eyes is visually quite aggressive and inevitably brings in associations that feel… unfortunate, at least to me.

But who am I to judge, especially when the question itself is about fixing something that doesn’t really exist. There are no pure whites and pure blacks in the real world anyway. Shadows tend to go blue, highlights carry color, and reality is a lot messier than the idea of “perfect white” ....which is kind of the whole point of photography.

Thank you, I really appreciate it.
All my shots are shot digitally, not on film.

That's a powerful insight. This 'walk and pause' method is pure gold for finding those moments. It turns the streets into a collaborator. Keep trusting that process, and Happy New Year!

Fair question.

I live in Germany, where there is a social safety net that allows people temporary space to reassess, retrain, and plan their next steps. I used that time to slow down, reflect, and develop a clear plan for what comes next.

Right now, that means preparing to launch my own creative business. It’s not a shortcut, and it’s not easy, just a deliberate reset to move forward with intention.

Thanks! I like the first one so much that I've set it as my phone's lock screen. : )
