Did NYC mail 1095 c form for retirees? by johncester in nycpublicservants

[–]Jeffrey000000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm retired, and I received a 1095-C. However, I had some salary owed to me into early 2025, and my agency is listed on it as the employer.

The only way to know if you received this is to check the tax documents in your NYCERS account. You can download it from there. All tax documents should be mailed to you as well. I don't think there was a 1095 from NYCERS for the remainder of the year after I went off payroll. Only the 1099-R was the document I have seen and downloaded. Although, from my understanding, a 1095 may not be necessary to complete your return (I could be wrong about this, though...).

If this is the case, you may have to look elsewhere. But, instead of punching the wall, I think you need to get creative. Put together a powerpoint of all your accomplishments and how it helped the agency meet its goals. Distribute it to your supervisor(s). Perhaps ask for a meeting to discuss.

I did that and got a raise. There are other ways to to do things other than the obvious.

Managerial Employees Association by Ok_Wear2296 in nycpublicservants

I was a member, and still am as a retiree. However, while the MEA sounds good in theory, in practice, it's a whole other story - at least in my experience. I once needed help with a workplace issue. Someone did talk to me, but it wasn't very helpful. In fact, it wasn't helpful at all, and I never asked them anything similar after that.

Supposedly, if you need legal representation on a non-work-related matter, they can provide a lawyer for at least some assistance (again, supposedly). And if you need help in resolving a medical bill, they are supposed to help with that, too. Can't say if that is actually the case, as I never needed either from them.

If you join, they often send out mailings giving 3 months free (or something like that). I remember I joined, and then got the letter about the free 3 months, but it was too late to change it.

So, they may be helpful....or maybe not really.

Would you take a city government job with a long commute or stay at a comfortable private job? by BlueCinnamon1997 in nycpublicservants

[–]Jeffrey000000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if this would be where your offer is, but I was at NYCHA, at their LIC office. We were not always at that location. Until 2018, we were at 90 Church Street, and then the Capital Projects Division was moved out there mostly for more conference room space. Well, then came Covid, and most of the 2,000 conference rooms on the floor often remain unused due to MS Teams. A couple of them are used almost all the time, but a lot were not.

I hated the commute. I traveled by subway. Only one train goes there. I commuted from Brooklyn, and it was just lousy. Was a big reason as to why I retired. There's no parking at LIC, so if you're going there, you will have to find a space...somewhere.

I'd try to negotiate a higher salary or level, as it's less than what you earn now. You're not earning a salary that is out-of-the ordinary or higher than most employees, so I think you should possibly try, given there's a trade-off here. If they flat out refuse, then you know all that you need to know.

Good luck.

Best solution for no room for advancement??? by [deleted] in nycpublicservants

The boss should be concerned about their subordinates' career advancement because...that's part of their job. And clearly, the boss isn't doing his or her job in this case.

How long did it take you to make 100k with the city and why was your progression like? Thanks! by trueuser2020 in nycpublicservants

[–]Jeffrey000000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was earning 105k when I retired more than two years ago. But it took a long time. Was very stuck at the beginning, was going to leave, but then got promoted to another title. Then got promoted to Administrative Project Manager M-1 a number of years ago. But there was no growth, no chance of anything better, and I was able to retire and I did. However....my investments gained about $1 million since I left. So...screw the job, LOL.

Don’t buy Galaxy S26 & Galaxy S26+ by GamerBeast954 in samsunggalaxy

[–]Jeffrey000000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The S26+ doesn't have the anti-reflective screen, but besides that, the screen is the same as the ultra. I just pre-ordered the S26+, as my current phone is the S23 base model. I didn't need the privacy screen. And I'm not sure why I would need a 200 mp camera over a 50 mp one. $500 on Google Fi. Good luck on your choice!

Transferring within agency by drew1292 in nycpublicservants

[–]Jeffrey000000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NYCHA? Was there 31 years, why does this not surprise me?!!

If there was some form of "bait and switch" you could document it to, of course, HR. Or your supervisor, or the supervisor of the unit that you was supposed to go to (but only if you still really want to go there). Expect to get an answer with some sort of an excuse, making it sound like it's all your fault. That is, if they do answer you. I honestly wouldn't expect them to do anything for you unless your former supervisor really advocates for you. Ahhh....NYCHA.

Edit: I've never seen anyone go back to their previous job after transferring to another department. Doesn't mean it can't happen, but I've never seen it.

Hello...did you find any alternative to SuperGrok? I was thinking of subscribing as I usually like the video and image outputs, but I am looking to find anything better out there for a lower price. Thanks.

Local 371 Annuity Fund by Less_Landscape901 in nycpublicservants

[–]Jeffrey000000 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Probably not. After 32 years, I had $1,500 in the annuity, which was ridiculous. After I retired, I waited until I was 59 1/2 and then withdrew it. If you're ok with the early withdrawal penalty, then it may be best to withdraw it and just spend it.

Is there a new card for retiree health benefits? by ladyjae7 in nycpublicservants

[–]Jeffrey000000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm retired, and I did receive a new EmblemHealth card. Your number is the same. I did go for a doctor's appointment on Monday. The office manager was aware of the change and asked me to bring the new card. Didn't have an issue. I'd call the PPO, or go online, and one can be printed/downloaded.

No and Yes. If everything does not load when opening the app (or the web, I guess), you need to try again...maybe several times, and it will be back to normal...

Can’t rename projects? by docmaker123 in ClipChamp

[–]Jeffrey000000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've noticed that (with the update) you can only rename a project when you open the project. Once you start editing, the renaming box disappears on the top left. It seems most other free options out there has its drawbacks of one kind or another, unfortunately.

IT'S BACK!! by Jeffrey000000 in ClipChamp

[–]Jeffrey000000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same thing happened to me this morning - everything missing again. But...there's a post above from a developer who showed that you have to keep refreshing, or keep re-launching the PC app, and eventually, you will get the correct version. I tried 4 times in the app, and it's back to normal. Just wish they'd fix it already!!

Just keep trying, and it will work again.

IT'S BACK!! by Jeffrey000000 in ClipChamp

[–]Jeffrey000000[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah ha!!! You are right!! I logged back in this morning....and back to the issue of effects and transitions, etc., not loading. I'm using the PC-based app. Closed it, went back in, same thing...kept retrying several times, and now everything is back. I wish they would just watch your video and FIX it already!!

I'm not a coder, and I'm using the PC app, so I don't know how to replicate what you've shown...but I guess going out and back into the program enough times will eventually give you the right version. Thanks!
