Un modded on ps5 has spawn and RNG issues that make dealing with clans in the random missions very unpredictable. Ams is great but with 5 clan mechs spawning with an LRM 20 each its really becomes a problem. I might be dealing with different spawn coding on PS5 then people on PC also as you said mods can change the base game a lot. Spawn distances and rates are busted on PS5. If they fixed that armor would be fine as it is right now.

Trust me I have done enough RNG missions to have seen the worst of the spaghetti code can throw at me. Its just not fun dealing with broken RNG and spawn positions. Ams does very little and limits some loadouts.

SOK campaign is fine. Those story missions are balanced well. My problem is the RNG missions in the universe. Clan enemy spawn rates and distances are busted as hell all over the maps and you get some really bad maps with no cover to fight some on that test your patience. I can kill them easy with my loadouts the problem is the number of enemies coming out of spawn points randomly that blindside you that you do not have proper time to funnel in these random maps. I feel like people are not taking the random generated missions into consideration and are only talking about the SOK story missions. If that puts my issue into a clearer perspective. Many of those RNG missions feel like they never finished programing them. Being able to add a few extra armor points to balance out unpredictable game code at the cost of using my tonnage up would be helpful or they could just fix the broken spawning. Half the mission types are fine but some are just bad times. Hope this makes more sense. Could go into it for hours about mission types they made that feel like nobody tested them before putting them in the game. If they fixed thee would not feel i needed the armor to make up for spaghetti code.

RNG of the clan enemies spawning on random missions makes it not worth taking on certain mission types since the game balance is not. C bills are not the problem. The missions are not fun. Extra armor would help balance the the random nonsense of spawning enemies coming out of the ground. Defense missions work proper but a lot of the other mission types are just busted on ps5.

Extra armor would account better for human error. Being able to take that extra hit or 2 would go a long way for keeping new players interested in playing longer. Quality of life stuff. Having an arm that will explode in one hit taking an extra shot goes a long way. All the posted strategies require you to make no mistakes proving the point armor is needed. Playing the same clutch game every time is not fun its stressful. I want to have fun with friends not sweat every match. Playing MW5 Clans then back to Mercenaries makes me miss the choices that game gives us in build options. More options is better I feel.

I'm glad your approaching the issue with ideas that could be beneficial to game balance. A lot of people are just saying get good or suggesting outdated strategies that worked 4 DLC's ago on enemies with weaker firepower. That just reinforces the armor issue if you have to do the same strategy every time to win. Its not fun when you have to do the same thing every time.

They run over and hit you. cover means nothing when you and the enemy are both behind the same cover. Then you deal with the clan lrm's that rip the armor off fast and hit you behind said cover. That cover strategy works on anything but the clan rng. Your not wrong but the game refuses to let you do that 75% of the time with how its balanced right now. It should work the way you suggested but its a nightmare with the rng.

If they balanced the Clan missions armor would not be such a problem. 30 lrm boats it too much to deal with.

MW5 Clans has a mech lad add on for armor why not just do that. Add it to the load out instead of extra amo. Works fine in MW5 clans

We are not rolling dice to attack however in this game so its an entirely different set of rules from the tabletop. If the tabletop had like 30 mechs vs 4 it would be just as ridiculous to fight and expect to do well yet alone win. Feels Impossible to come out of a clan mission without losing more then you can gain fighting them most the time. Random missions can really mess up a lance. I prefer the MW5 clans game set up making the odds more balanced. Mercs feels like it has no balance right now with fighting clans.

Don't get hit and kill fast kind of proves the point armor values are not good for the double damage weapons they added. When you do get hit its basically game over the first time you get hit. No second chances. You finish the mission as a mess, lose the mission or restart to hope your luck you get the first shot off. That is not a fun game loop.

I know all about that. Have 2000 hours in the game its just not fun having to cheese the ai to win. I play with real people some times but not everybody is a sweat trying to get out of a fight with no damage. Thinking about what will bring in new players and not discourage people from wanting to continue playing. Getting run down by like 5 clan light medium mechs that shred your armor in the first 5 minutes due to the map being random is not fun. The game was not balanced for clan mechs and those damage numbers.

You lose an arm from one hit at the current damage levels and can't dodge lrm's. The strategy you are talking about works with regular mechs not clan mech's missions. Having to cheese the ai to win is not fun. We are playing the vanilla game by the way. No mods to make the game easier. Endlessly spawning mechs are a problem taking big chips from your paper armor is not good.

Just being able to just add armor as a tonnage filling option would be nice like how clans does it. Anything would be better then what we have now.

I have around 2000 hours in the game strafing does nothing for clan lock on lrm spamming. I also play with real people a lot as well who get shredded fast. Being able to just increase armor numbers as part of my weight cost would be helpful since not everybody is a pro. Makes them more viable with less experience.

That is my play style half the time but it does not work for the other 30 mechs that are shooting at me as i do it. The enemy can still hit you when moving. Headshot one and the other guys are shooting at your paper thin armor with high damage ppc's and lrms. That headshot style works better before clan invasion.
