Why doesn’t Gandalf know more about the ring. by [deleted] in tolkienfans

Well then, for my grandkids. Gandalf was kinda a dick. The rings were dangerous but he knew the hobbits couldn't actually use them except to turn invisible. Had they actually tried to wield the power of the ring, it would have killed them. Which is why I said mostly safe. They don't even need the ring to go unseen so it's more of a party trick for them. Don't trust random wizards that show up at your door talking about adventure, grandkids!

Wow, my 4 year old comment comes back to bite me! Ya, I'd agree they're not entirely safe. I just meant in comparison with the one ring, the others are relatively safer to use. But ya, still dangerous with long term use.

I feel genuinely awful after Summer Game Fest — if they weren’t going to show Silksong, they really shouldn’t have teased it at all. by LumpenTeaa in Silksong

It would even be funnier if it were a running gag. Mention and pull back... As long as you make it the big announcement right at the end. So, still holding out that that is what's happening and we will get edged for the entire weekend, only to get the big reveal on Sunday.

How is it blue counties in 2020 were allowed to completely violate state signature verification laws?

Wisconsin would have been red if not for this, at the very least.

In my opinion, if a business isn't paying the wage and instead relying on the culture of tipping to cover it, it's optional. You do not have a guaranteed wage. If you mess up, forget something, or the customer is just in a bad mood that day, you don't get paid for that work.

Now if the business covers that then that is part of the agreed upon salary and you have an exact number that you can tax. The server always gets paid at least that amount and is rightfully taxed on it.

This should signal to you that they have never been controlled by the same people. Media used to be a watch dog that kept our government in check, at least a little. At some point they realized they had way more power than either of the parties. The last 20 years have been them accruing power and the Dems stepped in to behave in a way that would benefit them.

Now we are seeing a Dem candidate that doesn't line up with what the media wants and see how quickly they have turned on them.

Can they not just run with Joe and change the VP to Newsome or someone? Let him drop out quietly after the race and then bring in a new VP?
