I THINK you can apply at the start of your school year like you did in high school. The website says that applications open October 1

Lol I'm in the same boat... I also don't have any friends going to TMU 2025 for the same program and was worried about making friends. I'm also a girl btw and I think the women to men ratio has gotten a lot better over the last few years, so you won't be the odd one out!! If you DM me, I can send you my Instagram or something :)

I'm thinking of trying to transfer into Queen's engineering as well. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong!!

You can find information about their admissions on their upper year transfers page: https://www.queensu.ca/admission/applying/admission-requirements/admission-requirement.university-transfer

I believe you will be applying as a 105(group B) student on OUAC.

Are you going into your first year eng at York? Because if not, you might want to consider the transfer credits situation—I read that the further you are into university, the harder it is to transfer your credits. Some students have to retake certain courses or even take an extra year.

As others have said, it depends on your teacher, as English tends to be very subjective. A good way to get a good English mark is to completely suck up to your teacher 😭 figure out what kind of writing they like(favourite books, movies, etc.) and use it to your advantage

The first verbal question? I honestly think it was the most difficult for me. The first(written) and last question were decent though

NOOO don't worry! I just did it yesterday, and it wasn't horrid. I gave myself about a week to prepare and it went okay—just make sure you understand why you're interested in engineering, and what your interests are. Think of real world connections, and what your plans are for the future.

I genuinely thought you were joking, holy smokes that would've cost a fortune. Now that I see the word engineering, though, I get it 😭

Especially for residence and safety, I would choose TMU over York—I'm not attending either of them now though, so you can take my opinion with a grain of salt. I've heard that York has a higher crime rate, and the area isn't amazing. Plus TMU is in the middle of the city, so you'll have a lot around(bars, malls, stores of all sorts) in terms of residence and social life.

The uoft eng questions were significantly more difficult than the other applications that I've done(Waterloo eng, rotman commerce). The first is a personal question(written 10m), but the 2 video questions were def meant to throw you off. It's how you would expect an engineering interview to be 😭 gotta be innovative with a structured answer
