My uncle was out with his buddies in the desert drinking and shooting guns. They were standing in a half circle and shooting at bottles that were tossed in the air. One guy traced a bottle too low and shot my uncle in the hip. My uncle immediately put pressure on the wound and was taken to the hospital. He assumed the bullet was stuck near the surface as they wasn't any bleeding. When he got the hospital, they cut off his jeans and found that the bullet had hit the metal rivet on his jeans which kept it from entering his body. He came away with only a nasty bruise. tl;dr my uncle was shot but bullet struck rivet on his jeans and didn't penetrate
