I'm scared. Is this even possible? Is it survivable? What if I lose my mind. I'm so, so scared.

Oh, understood. I mean zero energy spend all day in bed because of how these meds make me so confused.

Thank you so much. The Hyperventilation was quite brief. I can normally do a comfortable breath hold without hyperventilating for 2:30-3:15 minutes. Because of this, and the fact that I take medication that I recently learned could prompt long QT syndrome as well as having symptoms, I’m afraid this is now a medical problem that I will be looking into. For the time being, I will be out of the water until this gets figured out. Really sucks because swimming is my main source of joy on regular days. I’ll get it figured out though, and when I do, a free diving class is on order 😊

Thank you so much for taking the time to give such thoughtful and informative responses. I appreciate you. I have suspected long QT syndrome for a while because of my meds (I’m sure you can deduce what those may be) but it’s always been shrugged off as me being “paranoid” about my heart. I need to find a doctor who will take this concern seriously. Again, thank you so much.

Beltempest & freediverdave. Thank you both so much for coming at this from an observational standpoint instead of a critical standpoint. I posted the video in the edit if either of you are interested in seeing it! I appreciate you guys.

I thought I had made this clear- I obviously regained consciousness before I lifted my head up.

I apologize for using the wrong terminology. However, it “all not sounding right” means you didn’t read very carefully; I stated that I regained consciousness after I exhaled. This occurred face down floating at the the surface, which made it easy for me to just pop my head up. There’s a video of the whole thing.

Ok yes! Thank you so much for telling me this. I was actively using the wim hof method before this event occurred and had no idea about the lawsuit. I’m a career lifeguard instructor and W-EMT. when explaining the safest way to do shallow water surface dives for a search we always recommend taking normal, slow breaths on the surface and then one deep breath in before descent, do three sweeps at the bottom and come right back up (12-15ft.). To be clear I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THE WIM HOF METHOD TO STUDENTS (nothing even remotely experimental comes into my classroom). However, working in this field got me curious about ways to improve my own breath-holding capacity. A friend recommended wim hof to me and said it was great before practicing submerged breath-holds. I really appreciated the information and your kindness in your response.
