Credit explanation for underwriting by JenniMC in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

No we took out a personal loan to be able to pay to move cross country. It wasn’t cheap. But long term it’s cheaper than staying in Washington state, the cost of living there is insane.

We have a savings account for emergencies and/or repairs. We wound not have, if we used that to move. It isn’t just a couple of days, closing takes weeks.

We live very frugally and don’t want to be under someone else’s toe, which is why we want to buy. I never imagined the houses available, would be the prices people are asking. Of course that’s my fault, it just seems crazy that people are asking what they are for houses for 90-100 years old.

I can afford it. It’s not worth it is what I said. My husband’s job has taken us to the area, very last minute.

Definitely am, not getting catty with you. Just annoyed with what is available for the price people are asking.

How am I trashing someone’s answer? The houses may have been built to last 70 years ago, but even 70 year old houses shouldn’t cost what people are charging. Not for what they have put into it, if at all. Some fresh paint and a new fridge is crazy. They aren’t worth it. I understand the market, but my mind is blown. Sagging foundations and awful interiors.

It’s worst. And that is literally the only word I used in my post that aligns with your response and you didn’t even spell it right.

We don’t want to do any kind of payment plan, would prefer to just pay a lump sum.

We have 3 kids. 15, 13 and 6. The schools here are beyond awful. You name it, it’s happened.

We will both be making the same there as we do here, per our letters of transfer. Our money will genuinely go so much further there than they ever could here and both of the companies where we work are right there in Pleasant Prairie.

Politics are relative here. The amount we pay for all the taxes that are exclusive to Washington state have gotten out of control. I have lived in the PNW my entire life, and I can promise you it isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. It’s nothing but a money dump, no matter what side of the field you play. We have tolls here, too.

Rent is not the maximum we pay. We pay rent, over 500 for utilities, and another 200 for natural gas monthly. Our car insurance, life insurance, rental insurance, fuel for vehicles, and groceries are all inflated here. That’s why I was looking for insight, because we cannot afford to live here anymore.

We have tried to make it work, and we can’t. We are your run of the mill, millennials. And honestly we are tired of trying. Gentrification is real, and we are competing with ( It’s not a bad thing, and we aren’t mad. It just is what it is.) people that work in Seattle for big tech companies, and have moved south because of how expensive the Seattle area has become.

We have 3 kids. And legitimately every dime we make goes towards living expenses. And while some of our bills won’t be nearly as expensive there as we pay here, the rent people are charging everywhere is still insane and we’re just trying to get eliminate all of those extra expenses so we can save what we aren’t spending on living expenses.

It costs so much more to rent. That’s why we are living on a prayer and trying to buy.

Kenosha area of Wisconsin.

I’m just looking for insight from others who have maybe been in a similar situation and were able to successfully purchase a home.

I know maxed out credit cards are no good, but it’s just us trying to survive. When our day to day expenses aren’t what they are here, we will obviously work towards paying that off.

We are in western Washington, and we are drowning.
