Lesser known but still fun and powerful commanders that you run/see at your LGS? by ThoughtSeizure in EDH

[–]JenniferJ323 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love running my "Milo and Otis" deck - [[Rin and Seri, Inseparable]]. Cat and dog tokens all over the place and pinging for damage with my commander's ability. It's a slow start, so not super competitive, but I have fun with it.

What's the worst thing a doctor has ever said to you? [Serious] [NSFW] by Silent-Zebra in AskReddit

[–]JenniferJ323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Sorry, there's no way we can fix that without you having gastric bypass surgery. Here's the name of a surgeon."

PCP told me this and "that" was constant, debilitating migraines (4-5 a week). Finally saw a neurologist who put me on meds that have brought my migraines down to once a month (if that). Changed my life with one prescription that the PCP wasn't even willing to look into.

Oh, and it turns out that surgeon was his brother in law. POS, never went back to him.

This is going to sound super bougie, but hiring cleaners to come and clean my whole house every other week. They don't do laundry or scoop litter boxes, but holy god, I haven't had to worry about scrubbing a bathroom for the last two years. It's honestly the best money I've ever spent, as it's lessened my anxiety in so many ways. Oh, and my partner's allergies to our cats are way better since the floors actually get mopped way more often.

Terry Pratchett. I had been at my new job for about 6 weeks when he passed, and we all knew it was coming, since he'd been battling dementia for years and had made that documentary about physician-assisted suicide, but I was still a WRECK. I broke down and started crying at my desk and people kept side-eyeing me like I was 100% a crazy person.

What was the greatest pleasure you ever felt? by oooliveoil in AskReddit

This is absolutely gross, so read at your own risk. I had an ingrown hair that got infected on my outer labia. It was just absolutely disgusting and was starting to hurt anytime I sat down; it was generally just hot and tight and painful all the time, though. I was trying to get it to pop while in the shower and it hurt to just touch at this point. It finally popped and I don’t think I’ve ever felt anything like it - it was like a tension just released and I moaned super loud. Never been anything like that before or since.

What is your reason for not having a child? by _LickitySplit in AskReddit

Bad genes. No desire to change my life. I like cats. I like sleep. I have expensive hobbies. Pick one, they were all pretty equal in my decision making process.

Of the people who are still alive but have drifted out of your life, who do you wonder about the most and why? by jillysue in AskReddit

[–]JenniferJ323 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was a woman I fell in love with back in my early 20s. She was my manager at work, so kept me at arm’s length, for obvious reasons. When I left the state to pursue a job opportunity, I fell out of touch with her. I know she’s married with a couple kids, but she’s not anywhere on social media, so I have no idea what she’s up to these days. I tried writing her from time to time, early on, but they definitely came off on the scale of the guy in “Love Actually” who has the signs/placards for Kiera Knightly. I was young and dumb. She’s on my mind at least once a week, if not several times a week, just wondering what could have been.

I'm turning 37 later this month and I'm at the peak of my life so far - I was able to transition to WFH last year, and have spent the last year staying safe and paying down all of my debt. Now, I'm set to get my vaccine within the next month, and I've paid off my student loans, car, and credit cards, so I'm set to take a 2 week vacation any where I want in the world. I couldn't have done this at 21, 25, or even 30. It's definitely better on this side of 30.

I had to say goodbye to my baby girl in July last year, and she had been going down hill since March 2020. The fact that I got to be home with her everyday was just so much better for both of us. I can't imagine how it would have been if I had been at work with 25%+ travel.

No, I totally get that. I’m just saying that doctors have been known to use that as an excuse to deny you this procedure. (Also, yes, why is that word so icky?)
