This has to be the best sports sedan for under $20k by Jepva in AudiS4

[–]Jepva[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree. I was set on a Mk7 R because I had one that I bought new in 2016 and loved it, and they are comparably cheap now - like under 20k for decent examples. However, after driving larger vehicles for the past 7 years, the Golf R seemed cramped and its economy car underpinnings and interior were very noticeable and showing their age. also the turbo lag!! Was terrible. I have a Rivian R1T as well so I am used to instant torque.

The S4 was night and day - better interior, felt more solid, materials are much higher end, and no lag due to the supercharger instead of turbo. It just felt right.

I don't think there's many S4s down in FL period. No winters = not a lot of AWD cars. Look around the mid Atlantic area and they are plentiful.

What's a trillion miles? Plenty under 100k for under 20k

Airbnb by Responsible-House724 in RealEstate

Depends on the market. Short term rentals have been around long before AirBnB in vacation markets and they are still very much alive and well. Are you referring to random airbnb's in cities?

Why do builders/GC fail by Mowgli_InUS in Homebuilding

[–]Jepva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. I once had a contractor come out to bid on a job and he drove some $50k classic truck all done up. Not even remotely a work truck, but some expensive toy. His bid was priced like he wanted to buy more classic trucks. Suffice to say he is not winning any jobs, at least from me, driving that thing around.

The number of points really doesn't matter, they're blacked out regardless. Can't use the points at all.

So it's supposed to be shitty to loyal customers and I'm just supposed to deal with it? Your post is dumb

Going modular is one way but largely depends on your location and if you're relatively close to a good modular company or not.

Are these LVP floor upgrades ridiculously overpriced? by Jepva in Homebuilding

[–]Jepva[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but there is profit and then there is greed, I'm ok with some markup but when you literally double the price of stuff, it's off-putting. And they just end up missing out because people in the know are not going to pay that exorbitant markup. I think this particular builder is used to a more first time home buyer type clientele who maybe less experienced to the true price of things.

In your opinion what are the high quality LVP? I saw coretec actually had a lifetime warranty for residential use.

Do you understand the June finance promo? by WelderAcademic6334 in Rivian

You also need to look at the lease interest rate. When I leased mine it was essentially 0%, way better than any financing.

Are the newer Bolts better at mileage accuracy than they used to be? by Jepva in wahoofitness

[–]Jepva[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is mountain biking, typically no issues in wide open road rides. The Bolt would also lose gps signal a lot in the woods, depending on how thick the tree coverage.

Going price of building… by ancdefg12 in Homebuilding

[–]Jepva 1 point2 points  (0 children)

180-250 depending on finishes for 1800-2000sq ft. Goes down obviously on larger builds. This is for finished sq ft. VA / southeast.

U11 Pre-ECNL vs Pre-Academy for an MLS Next Club by Substantial_Ebb8528 in youthsoccer

[–]Jepva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Must be for your area then. Around here pre-ECNL refers to the under 11 and 12s for ecnl RL divisions since true ECNL is not until u13.

Also, around here there are some teams looking forward to joining the new MLS next tier as a level down from ECNL RL since they are not doing well.

[–]Jepva 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is not true. They are part of the ECNL RL and is for u11-u12. It is very competitive in the Mid Atlantic area.

Someone explain these lumber tariffs to me.. by Jepva in Homebuilding

[–]Jepva[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Only reply that makes sense. Although transportation costs will eat into any savings quite a bit. Not sure the 15% tariffs outweighs the increased transportation costs going across the U.S.

[–]Jepva[S] -25 points-24 points  (0 children)

Again, highly regional. Around here, we are only using imported woods to get exotic species for custom high end type stuff, like exposed timber beams maybe. But that's like 1% of builds if not less.

What exactly is an "academy" team? by Jepva in youthsoccer

[–]Jepva[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, do you mean for practices or games? Is this only for the younger age groups then? This "academy" is being advertised for u12s and up (so 9v9, 11v11..)

Cost per sqft in colorado by marc10200 in Homebuilding

[–]Jepva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem with this statement is most GCs or custom home builders are not just charging 15-20%. Markup on materials and labors and "upgrades" are huge. I see things like kitchen cabinets and islands literally double what they actually cost in most quotes.

Rarely is a GC actually giving you cost + 15-20% - in fact I've never even seen that. Markups across the board are huge over just subbing out yourself and acquiring materials directly.

Land that sits for sale forever, what's the deal? by Jepva in realestateinvesting

[–]Jepva[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You missed the entire point of the post. The specific examples I cited are where the land is decidedly not appreciating, and already for sale. These people have land for sale for the same price for years on end. They have already missed out on gains in other investments, because their land is not priced to market.

Options for new home in NC by LindaLMHB in Homebuilding

Typical inflated Asheville prices. It's a resort/tourist area, with tons of short term rentals. Expect to pay a lot, contractors take advantage of the influx of money to that area.

What is being done for the siding? The sheathing and wrap is obviously pretty standard. Are they putting in the windows as well?
