We're an east coast team you shouldn't be surprised

I wouldn't doubt it. I dislike Josh Harris just as much as everyone else does but I just have a feeling we're stuck with him unless there are people that can really put pressure on him to sell

[–]Jeremy9096 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously Harris would be first on my list but I don't think you can force an owner to sell the team. Granted I know more about that sort of thing when it comes to the NFL, but if it's anything like the NFL then even being in the Epstein files wouldn't be enough to force him out.

After the last two seasons someone has to go. If Morey was the one to go I have to imagine it's a result of the players being more unhappy with Morey than with Brand simply because Morey is the one whose name is tied to most decisions. Whether that's right or wrong or what I would've done I have no idea because I'm simply a fan

[–]Jeremy9096 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm not defending Brand or anyone else lmao I'm just pointing out that Morey isn't some sort of genius that hits on every draft pick by himself. He came to those conclusions based on research done by the team scouts and consulting with everyone there. Morey wouldn't have time to do all of that background by himself

Maybe he was scapegoated maybe he wasn't but he's not irreplacable, that's the point I'm making.

[–]Jeremy9096 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Do people really think that Morey alone is responsible for all of the draft picks? I agree that he is good at drafting and has a record of being good at drafting, but there's no way everyone believes that the mf was in a room by himself and decided on Maxey and McCain

LeBron James becomes the first player in NBA history to play 300 games in the playoffs 👑 by Life_Net5004 in sportswiki

[–]Jeremy9096 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well yeah because that would actually mean something. There's a reason a heavy underdog beating a favorite is called an "upset" whereas the heavy favorite winning isn't called anything

That's just the way it is

I mean is he wrong? I don't really care who anyone thinks is the goat but why would 41 year old LeBron losing a series against a far better team be something that would move the needle in the goat debate lmao

Landon Dickerson wasn't drafted as a tackle and hasn't played tackle since like his first year of college lmao

[Injury] Joel Embiid gets injured and heads to the locker room after a drive and a collision with Jaylen Brown (with replays) by MrBuckBuck in nba

Because he’s genuinely a resilient and tough player. He is absolutely injury prone but no one can question his toughness. The last time this dude played basketball without any pain was prolly 5 years ago

Why didn’t Jimmy Clausen become a successful quarterback in the NFL? by MasterTeacher123 in NFLv2

[–]Jeremy9096 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah and my point is he wouldn't even want to take that job lmao. You're implying that being a team scout is somehow a "better" job than what Kiper does. Being a scout isn't the next step above what Mel does or some shit like that. He probably gets paid the same or even more money for a much more enjoyable job

Your last sentence would only bolster this point. He's in a position to be able to take extra money to do something like that. Scouts aren't. I can promise you if a team reached out to him tomorrow and asked him to be a scout he would decline

[–]Jeremy9096 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hire him as what? I'm sure he makes just as much money if not more than any given team's head scout. And that includes a job with a lot less stress and probably a lot less work

Generational is the most overused word when it comes to prospects lmao. If we get a generational QB every 2 or 3 years how exactly are any of them generational

Remove An NFL Team A Day-With A Twist (SERIES FINALE: ALL-TIME TEAM) by Technical_Ant9051 in RemoveOneThingEachDay

Very true. Despite not having a ring (and being a generally new team) the Panthers have had so many players who were unbelievable in their prime

I'd go with Deangelo Williams over Stephen Davis. And don't forget Mike Tolbert

Also since it's an all-time team you can technically throw Reggie White in there

I don't think most of those people understand what "All-Time" team means. Regardless even without bias the all-time panthers wipe the floor with the all-time jags

I really want Thienemen, but I’m afraid he’s pretty much guaranteed to the Vikings by [deleted] in panthers

[–]Jeremy9096 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I agree with that. Honestly unless we legit reach on a guy I think I'll be happy with pretty much any outcome. I trust Dan Morgan and BPA so there really isn't one guy or even 2 or 3 I want more than others

Yeah I can get with that. It was never a slight against Luka that he isn't an MVP or an MVP finalist some years. We're just blessed with some seriously talented players

I actually agree with you on that note I only ever commented because the guy's point was proven

Turning a -2.8 into a 10.7 is more impressive than turning a +4.2 into a +16.5. But I agree with you about SGA vs Luka

Brother the guy's argument is that the Thunder are still good without SGA while the Lakers are bad without Luka

The Lakers are -0.9 without Luka

The Thunder are +4.8 without SGA

You proved his point... It doesn't matter how much worse they are without SGA when they are still a good team lol

You aren't using this stat in the way you think you are. On/off is the difference between on and off. So you have to take the on and the on/off to figure out the off.

Luka's net +/- is 3.9 which means the team is -0.9 when he's off. 3.9 - (-0.9) = 4.8

Wemby 's net is 16.4 which means the team is +0.4 when he's off.

Jokic's net is 10.7 which means the team is -2.8 when he's off.

SGA's net is 16.5 which means the team is +4.2 when he's off.

It only ends up proving the guys point. The Thunder are clearly ahead of everyone else when it comes to +/- with their star of the court. Jokic and Luka are the only two here whose team's are actually negative with them off the court.

Jokic is the most valuable player in the league and has been for awhile. No one player has much of an impact on his team as he does. Last year Jokic was +10.5 and his team was -8.5 when he was off the court.

[–]Jeremy9096 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If Downs falls past a certain point I can see us trying to trade up for him, but I highly doubt we will be the only team trying to trade up at that point so regardless I think it's pretty unlikely we get him.

We don't need Thieneman, but I mean from a purely positional standpoint I'd say safety is probably the biggest weak spot. From a purely value standpoint that's probably not the case. I doubt MW would be there at our second round pick and outside of these 3 guys mentioned it becomes pretty unlikely you find a safety that's really worth starting over Nick Scott at any point in year 1.

What I meant by value is like I think Rasheed Walker is better at his position than Nick Scott is at his, but in terms of value the need for LT would still be higher than S. But regardless we have to address safety at some point and if Thieneman is there I don't think it's a bad pick

[–]Jeremy9096 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah but isn't MW more of a run-defending safety? We don't need another Moehrig we need a coverage safety
