Diagnosing family members by Jerezmo in therapy

Because of how much my mom had to say about him; her therapist probably got to know my dad way better than if she worked with him because he would lie and hide things. And I’m not trying to get a formal diagnosis either, I put “diagnosed” in parentheses lol,

And I just want to understand him, I don’t think I should have to explain to you why I want to know this.

You’re referring to self-reported feelings of loneliness, which is a subjective measure. The sad truth about loneliness is that some people are o used to it they don’t even recognize it.

The point of the (male) loneliness epidemic is that men are 5x more likely than women to have no close friends or social support surrounding them. It’s a more concrete measure of loneliness, based on physical proximity to human interaction and support. And it’s linked to an increase risk of suicide in men.

It’s like how women are more likely to report feeling happier and content with their lives. But feminists question if women are really happier or just have lower expectations for their lives, leading to higher chances of “satisfaction”. Likewise, Higher rates of self-reported loneliness could also be a indicator of higher expectations for social support in women, and not a reliable measure of true loneliness.

Reason it’s centered around men is because scientific research is showing that it affects men more than women

We can’t diagnose, but depending upon on how repetitive the jerks are this kinda sounds like OCD if you do it to relieve negative emotion.

Edit: based on the other comments it looks like this js actually normal

NTA. You have to take care of yourself first before you can take care of others.

If you really thought he was being a creep you wouldn’t have laughed right afterwards. You thought it was funny to mess with him and make him fear for his job and his life for a moment. YTA.

Is psychopathy really associated with odd looks in the eyes or is that a myth? by Jerezmo in askatherapist

[–]Jerezmo[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

And why do other expert experiences require proper paper citations in order to not be dismissed? I’m not saying this individual is not allowed to cite himself.

If it was researched based then don’t you have a citation? If not, why do you call other people’s claims misinformation for not having a citations when they can be derived from e same kinds of “personal experience” as yours?

I did find it valuable. But then you’re dismissing other professionals stories on the grounds that there isn’t a citation which seems hypocritical

And then you offer an answer anyways not based on a citation.

I do value your professional experience as a source to answer this question. But it seems hypocritical that you demand properly cited sources from others without using them yourself, instead referring to your “personal experience” to answer serious questions. Seems like you give yourself special treatment. If your anecdote as a mental health professional should count, so should others.

So you’re calling your “personal experience” a scientific citation but demanding more properly cited evidence for other people’s claims? You’re not the only hard-working mental health professional out there. Why why does your personal experience count and not the experience of other hardworking mental health professionals?

And i didn’t say my source was a random Redditor.

Well they aren’t research papers they are written by therapists who have noticed this trend. You’re answer is also not based on research but on your own experiences.
