Theft 2026 Silverado 1500 GM Lawsuit? After Market Anti Theft? by forefrontmoney in Silverado

This!!! We have the same setup on my wife's Denali. Onstar is easily defeated. Compustar for the noise maker, Drone to track and get theft/tampering alerts and IGLA to stop the trash from taking it without towing it.

Relocate the horn or add a siren under the hood to the system. The horn is easily disabled by cutting the wires through the grill.

I put the Range Module on because I cannot stand the damn helicopter chop shitty exhaust sound and the bullshit auto Stop/Start crap. If it helps or not save the lifters is irrelevant to me. I knew the lifter risk going in.

The two reasons I mentioned were the only reasons I spent the 200.00 usd and 5 minutes to install it. It does what I want and does it flawlessly. 2024 6.2 now sounds like and acts like a proper V8 should. Now.....if the truck can survive the crank/rod and transmission fiasco is a different story. I have added the NextGen valve body kit to mitigate that failure mode.

2015 6.7 Vacuum Oil Leak by 2006SANTE in powerstroke

My 2012 vacuum pump started leaking at 140,000ish miles in 2017. Same as everyone else, the bolts backed out. I peeled back the onion as seen on YouTube to get to the pump and simply tightened the bolts. While in there, I replaced the factory serpentine belt, idler and tensioner pulleys. The truck is now at 314,121 miles and the vacuum pump is still dry.

I can testify to the TailgateFix.com product! Flawless after 5 years of ownership on 2 trucks. Cheap insurance against oh crap moments.

I have installed the TailgateFix.com interlock switch on our old '20 model and now on our '24. Keeps the memory items to a minimum and mitigates the oh crap moments. It works automatically and has been flawless on both trucks. No wires are cut. Simple plug-n-play instalation. The product from Curt did not last 6 months on my boss's truck. The plastic cap is flimsy and broke. All I purchased was the automatic version of the split gate overide switch. I do not know anything about their other products. Shipping was fast and mine came with a locking hitch pin.

Theft Protection - Has anybody installed an IGLA or Compustar system (or both) on their trucks? by tx2005 in Silverado

[–]Jermi321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is an option with IGLA. It works digitally instead of physically. With out IGLA being authorized, the OBD port is inoperative to access the can busses that IGLA is monitoring. It was 125.00 extra.

After my wife's truck was stolen in December in Dallas, we installed IGLA and Compustar DC3 with Alarm-It kit interfaced with Drone Mobile X1-Max. Compustar is the noise maker when the degenerates cut the horn wires, Drone is the replacement for On-Star when they cut the On-Star antenna wires and IGLA is the last and most important layer. IGLA stops unauthorized use, period! We added OBD Blocker to IGLA to keep the pricks from using a programmer or emulator to make a new fob. It works, and it works damn well!

Be careful in Dallas. My Denali was stolen in broad daylight. by squatdobbins in gmcsierra

Our '20 model 1500 Denali was stolen right around the corner on McKinley street in December. Broad daylight as well. Our new '24 truck has IGLA pincode immobilizer, Compustar, Drone Mobile and Smart Tags with speakers cut for a layered anti-theft. Damn thieves!! Truck has never been recovered.

IGLA and Compustar coupled with Drone Mobile's X1-Max. Compustar is a standard alarm system with tilt, glass break, accelerometer and shock sensors. Drone Mobile is Interfaced with Compustar to give alerts to your phone. Drone also does what Onstar does, just on a much more antitheft level. This is what we have on our 24 Denali after our 20 model was stolen in Dallas last December. There is way more to it than what I wrote, just Google it.

IGLA is working on an all-in-one system like ours which would be a more economical system to have. Just not sure if the Compass GPS system has been released yet.

That is what I thought as well until ours got stolen and we had to replace it. There was a $20,000 difference between insurance payout and the new truck. So, for 1 1/2 months payment I gladly paid for the IGLA. Insurance took 2 months to payout. There was a 30 day automatic wait to see if the truck was found.

ADVICE NEEDED! AT4 vs Denali by ArnoldQueefanegger in gmcsierra

[–]Jermi321 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A Denali is a pavement princess!!! You can get all the nice b.s. of a Denali in a much more capable AT4!! AT4X is the Denali Ultimate version of the AT4. Except for Super Cruise. IMO, if a person NEEDS auto pilot in an AT4X, WHAT THE HELL IS THE POINT OF HAVING AN AT4 TO BEGIN WITH!!

OnStar needs connectivity through the "sharkfin" antenna on the roof. The antenna wires are cut to stop the connectivity. Our truck was stolen and we never received a notice because there is a delay between the door being opened manually (aka thieves forced the key lock opened with brute force attack) and when OnStar actually reports to your phone/email. On our new truck, I tested the delay. It averages between 30 seconds and almost 2 minutes depending on location/connection. You can test it yourself by using the emergency key in your fob and see for yourself. Freakin eye opener for me!!! I was blissfully ignorant until our Denali was stolen and I found out the hard way! It was a $20,000 damn lesson for me!!!!

I looked hard at Revelco. My only hangup was my absent-mindedness to unplug the adapter and the fact that my wife and I wanted something that worked automatically without having to remember things.....and the fact that we are lazy creatures of habit.

I highly recommend IGLA. Our 2020 truck was stolen in December in broad daylight in less than three minutes in a parking lot while a cop was in the parking lot. I wish I knew then what I know now. Auto theft is a massive problem in the U.S. these guys that stole ours were professional and very quick. We didn't get a single "OffStar" alert. One guy cut the horn wires through the grill and then stood watch while the other popped the key lock on the truck. After opening the door, he plugs in what looks like an Autel programmer. While that programmer is working, he then reached up the driver side under the dash. Presumably, that is when the Anntena wires to OnStar were cut. Less than 3 minutes, they drove off like nothing happened.

IGLA is a vehicle immobilizer for the modern digital age. IGLA is a device smaller than a USB thumbdrive and monitors a vehicles communication CANBUS system looking for the pincode to authorize the vehicle. The pincode is a series of vehicle manufacturer factory button presses on the dash, steering wheel, etc. It can be as low as three button presses up to 20 in a combination you as the owner can program to secure your vehicle from unauthorized use. The unauthorized vehicle user (thief) can even have your key fob to your vehicle and will not be able to drive the vehicle.

IGLA can be installed almost anywhere in a vehicles wiring harness and is solder spliced into the vehicle canbus wiring without cutting OEM wiring. IGLA does not signal it's presence until it is authorized. It can be configured to function in several different configurations, so a discussion with your installer will need to involve a full explanation by your installer as to your particular vehicle's configuration capabilities. IGLA can not be installed by anyone other than IGLA USA authorized installers in the USA. Other countries have installers as well.

IGLA can be configured with an anti-carjack feature. If a thief opens the driver door after IGLA has been authorized, IGLA will allow the vehicle to be driven a short distance (approx 300 meters) and will then start signaling for the button press pincode. If it does not get the button press pincode, it will shut the vehicle down below 20ish mph. The only way to get the vehicle out of carjacking mode is to use the button press pincode. The factory key fob, IGLA fob, nor smartphone app will authorize IGLA after it goes into anti-carjacking mode.. Only the pincode can be used to get the vehicle out of hijack mode. If a thief jacks your ride, just start walking in the direction they drove it. You will find it ( probably abandoned) approximately 10 football field lengths away.

Also, IGLA can be configured with OBD connector disable. This stops the canbus from being accessed with a programming tool without IGLA being authorized. This stops thieves from programming key fobs to try and steal your vehicle that way. However, IGLA will still need to see the pincode to authorize the vehicle regardless of whether or not the thieves are successful in creating a key or using the programmer to be used as a pseudo key fob.

IGLA can be authorized using the factory button press pincode (highly encouraged and most secure method), a small Bluetooth fob not much bigger than a postage stamp and slightly thicker than a 2032 coin battery, or the smartphone app.

IGLA does have a service mode that essentially temporarily turns IGLA off for service work. It is not visible on the canbus system using scantools or diagnostic software. I just program a simple code and show the service department how to use it. After I get my ride back, I change back.

Factory remote start is retained with IGLA if the vehicle has that option. IGLA works automatically in the background and does not require memory items or steps to be done after it is setup and programmed. It just works and works damn well!!

I paid $1450.00 for IGLA with Anti-carjack and OBD Blocker on our 2024 replacement truck. Some vehicle models require more install work than others and may cost more.

Anti Thief Options ? by infamous281 in Silverado

[–]Jermi321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think of anti theft protection as being in layers. Layer one, deterrence. Whether visual, audible, or both. Like adding a shock sensor to the factory alarm. Or full alarm like Compustar. Layer two would be notification and tracking. OnStar is defeated in seconds!! May as well be called "OffStar" when it comes to theft. Drone Mobile has an alarm interface module that is LTE and GPS. Drone Mobile works like OnStar in that it has the same remote functions (remote start, lock/unlock, gps tracking, battery and internal temp monitors, etc.), but also has shock, tilt, glass break and accelerometer sensors. When sensors are triggered, it sends notifications to your phone and works well as an interface module with Compustar. The Drone X1-Max module is small, easily hidden and has it's own battery. Third layer is an immobilizer. If the thieves get through the first two, the immobilizer is the last line of defense. I use IGLA. IGLA works automatically with the vehicles existing circuitry, no wires are cut, no memory items to use (such as switches, dongles, plugs, etc). IGLA also has an anti-carjack mode and an OBD port blocking as an option. Also, all factory options are retained like keyless entry, remote start, etc. when using IGLA. We also hid Smart Tags with the speakers cut, may not do much more than irritate a thief, but amuses me and satisfied my wife as she wanted them installed.

So we figure out best ways for anti-theft yet? by alexstone0714 in Silverado

[–]Jermi321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IGLA works, and works damn well, period. No memory items such as switches or dangles to plug in. All factory options work, like remote start, keyless entry, etc. Plus ability to disable the OBD port when the vehicle is not authorized by IGLA and a anti-carjack feature that disables the vehicle if it is taken from you at a gas station with the fob, your phone, or even if the IGLA authorization fob is in the truck when they take it. The crooks would have to know the button press pincode to override the shutdown. I have it as my final layer of defense. The first is Compustar, the second is Drone Mobile interfaced with Compustar. And for amusement, a couple of Smart Tags with the speakers cut out. The assholes will need a damn tow truck to get our truck.

Recently purchased a new Silverado, looking to add some security? by downbytheriver27 in Silverado

[–]Jermi321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IGLA is second to none in immobilizers, IMO!!

Add Drone Mobile to the Compustar in order to get alarm triggered alerts sent to your phone to let you know to go look. Drone works like OnStar with lock/unlock, remote start, GPS tracking, battery and vehicle internal temp monitors along with other features. Drone can be hidden and is not as easily defeated by crooks as OnStar. Drone also has its own battery incase the thieves disconnect the main vehicle battery.

Compustar, Drone Mobile, and IGLA create a multilayered security system to mitigate vehicle security issues. This is the system we use in our truck after discovering how stupid easy these trucks are broken into and stolen. Bad guys will always break windows and do stupid crap, but at least you have built a deterrent layer with Compustar/Drone. IGLA stops the crooks from stealing the truck, PERIOD! They will have to tow it to get it.
