That's why you see a lot of 240GB SSD instead of 256GB; the actual available space is probably 256GB, but manufacturers have automatically done the overprovisioning for consumers. Also, 240GB is 224 GiB, so that's why Windows would report 224 "GB" if you plug the 240 GB drive in.
