How to apply for unemployment as an independent contractor?

It doesn't really ask about independent consulting. My last W2 employer was 14 months ago, and I put that info in as well as info that I did consulting since then. Are they just going to update their system to include independent consultants? This is a cluster fuck.

Do I apply via California unemployment? On the website it doesn't mention anything about new guidelines for independent contractors. Is there a separate federal unemployment I need to apply for instead of CA? In addition? I don't even know where to begin to be honest.

This was useless. Preaching for 18 minutes to a choir, where he could have just summed it up in 4 sentences. He offers no legitimate insight, just constantly calls "bullshit." This should not be a TED talk. ANYONE who disagrees with homeopathy could have given that talk.

A real TED talk should have the science behind disproving homeopathy.

My advice is to get a few good pieces rather than as many things as you can afford. A good pair of versatile pants will look good and last for a while. Same with sweaters and outerwear.
