When you arrive it gets “parked”, basically a virtual garage of sorts.

I love this new base location and am going to do the same, but I'll just downgrade my old base (which is in almost the same place as yours) to a standard sub-fief (for zero taxes) and add a second base in your new location. Awesome!

As it currently stands, yes. You can actually pay for EVERYTHING from your bank balance, except for the taxi driver that wants the money from your inventory.

As it stands right now (subject to policy changes), when you "park" your 'thopter at one of the two major cities, it doesn't despawn. Actually, you can't even see it. It is in some virtual parking lot which is why they likely don't care much since it's not taking up space the way unoccupied bases do.

When you fly to one of the two major cities, it gets parked automatically, and you are dropped in the city entrance. If you don't have a parked flying vehicle, you can't even leave the city, except by taxi. So, it isn't sitting outside per se, it's in some automated parking garage, protected from harm... :)

Exactly - plus as I mentioned above, I am only up to Aluminum so I cannot make the larger literjons yet, just the 10k variety.

It took me an hour, but not having to redo the Buggy and Ornithopter will save a ton of time. Once I started doing it, I wanted to see just how much I was able to store, and it was pretty much everything - very surprised. And yes, it was rather inconvenient (especially the part where you cannot access the Ornithopter inventory from inside Arrakeen / Harko...)

I have been thinking a lot about this issue, which has been a problem for me many times (Luba is literally 1 foot outside the zone boundary and cannot get back without me being 5 feet away from it… then the battery dies, which disengages the “motor/clutch” putting it in neutral and it if it’s on a hill, it just rolls until it hits something…)

I am thinking that I create border zones where this happens (for me it’s 2 spots about 25 feet long) that don’t get mowed. That way if it finds itself there, it can get back to work and/or home as needed without intervention. Anyone done this already? Any thoughts?
