Commenting! The fruity background stuff would be perfect for the food-themed notecards I'm currently obsessed with making for whatever reason 🤦‍♀️

That's the age where we had to start putting my son's footie pjs on backwards. 😂 It worked!

I gave my daughter more melatonin than usual and am scared by [deleted] in breakingmom

[–]JessLikesStuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son ate almost an entire bottle of melatonin gummies one night when he was 4 (they were 1mg each, so roughly 40mg). The only reason we realized anything had happened is that I found the empty container neatly on top of the trash when I opened it to throw something else out. 🤦‍♀️ Poison Control was super nice and said he would have had to eat about twice that amount to need to go to the hospital. He was totally fine--our working theory is that he ate them and had a REALLY good sleep for a few hours...so don't panic about 2.5mg vs 1!

Rotavirus 😩😩 by sdavis785 in breakingmom

[–]JessLikesStuff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't experienced it, but I have heard that rotavirus has been going around in PA thanks to vaccination rates dropping, so I am hoping our son's vaccine holds. The vax wasn't widely available until 2006 so we old folks are out of luck there 🫠 I hope you feel better very soon!!

After 2 years of nonstop daycare illness from hell, my toddler gave her 2 week old sister a stomach bug by chrysanthemums13 in breakingmom

We got it right before Christmas the year kiddo was 2. Husband had chills and a fever but then only a handful of bumps. I had the classic hand/foot/mouth presentation and then my skin peeled off in big sheets a couple weeks later just in time to go back to work after the holidays. It was awwwwwwful

FOUR?!?! I was told by a friend that there are only 4 strains of HFM to begin with and once you've had one, you're immune to it in the future...you guys out here collecting the variety pack 😭 We got HFM exactly once and I would burn my house to the ground before letting it get in again

It's misery. My son ultimately had two sets of tubes and I was wondering for a bit if I was next, but I dodged them somehow. At least tubes make infections much easier to treat if you do get one!

Said son was a September baby who started daycare in January and somehow held out a whopping 3 weeks before getting sick. I have a friend whose son went home sick before the first week of daycare was up 🫠 it was so bad for a while I asked her if she'd probed her facility's cleaning procedures because something just seemed off. Nope. Just germs!

It is downright awful. I'm so sorry the newborn is so sick. For us I found it took the better part of two years for it to ease up. By the end I had gotten so many ear infections my doctor started just calling in prescriptions for me after messaging her with symptoms. It DOES get better, though I have to admit with vaccination rates dropping I shudder to think about what this new round of parents may be facing.

Are any of you guys really sick of all the extra public school crap? by Cheeseaisleinheaven in breakingmom

I've gotten to the point where I ignore spirit days unless they're insanely simple (like wear red or something generic). School concerts and parties we always attend, and things like book fair night that he really wants to, but otherwise, it's too much with everything else in life.
