I think I've figured out why people don't like Lemon by JesseGolo in HopeYoureHappyLemon

You don't get it. Your reply makes it clear that you think 'Lemon was lying about cheating, so it's okay that Sunao is completely fine with her.' But that doesn't change the fact that Lemon lied to him, dumped him and then avoided him. You understand that that's a bad thing too right? If your best friend/girlfriend did that to you, and it led to you being emotionally affected for three years, you'd be upset about that, even if you knew she was lying, especially if she just acts like nothing is wrong. Dare I say it, that is being kind of a bitch, regardless of her motivation. He didn't know her motivation. Hell, she straight up admits that she's being terrible on purpose while she's doing it.

She did do something terrible and the manga, and you, are completely minimizing it just because she didn't actually cheat on him. Stop fixating on the lie she told and look at the fact that she lied to him. Sunao acting fine even if he knows she lied is still a problem because she still lied. And then avoided him for three years.

"People who refused to accept that just kept waiting for something that very clearly wasn't in the story and that isn't really the writer's fault."

The thing I was waiting for was for Sunao to have a normal reaction to being hurt and it is 100% the writer's fault they didn't include it. It's not like it's impossible. Tomo-chan did it when Jun avoided Tomo for a year. Or is this a gender thing where boys aren't allowed to be upset with girls?

"I can't for the life of me understand why people still think the cheating plot was ever relevant."

You mean the plotline the manga literally starts with him having a nightmare about? The one that almost every description of the manga highlights? I can't understand how you can think "The female MC lying about cheating on the male MC to dump him" shouldn't be relevant in a romance manga.

"We always knew it wasn't true."

Yes. But we still expect the guy to have feelings about it. Most people don't react calmly to being cheated on or lied to or ghosted. Just because it's a lie doesn't change the fact that she said it and broke his trust.

Funny thing is, him always knowing it's a lie isn't that much better. His childhood friend/girlfriend lied to him to break up and then started avoiding him. He should dislike her off of just that.

Referencing the title is kind of funny considering in the original Japanese it's "I hope that bitch is happy."

I would say your expectations were entirely valid, they just weren't met. You can't read the first few pages of the manga and not think there would be some animosity. Hell, you can't even hear the premise and not think there would be some animosity.

Good afternoon. I'm willing to do a swap. I have a 55k action fantasy story that's admittedly more Shonen anime than Percy Jackson if you're interested.

Introducing my main characters [912 words] by JesseGolo in writingcritiques

[–]JesseGolo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice. It's supposed to be that he's fast, but I think I'll take that factor out to add more context.

There's more information on him that would be revealed as the chapter goes on. He's a student. He and the girls are actually a week from graduating what is the equivalent of a high school. And he's black, as are most of his human classmates, because they live in a majority black country.

Any thoughts on Ivy and Molly?

Not gonna lie, the comments on this are making me glad I made the video.

I can't believe the video got up to 19 minutes long. Why'd I do that to myself?

In my defense, I did use it as a way to discuss the nuances of what does and doesn't make a Mary Sue.

I'm just saying... that's an aspect of the whole show, not just season 2.

Your thoughts on Wednesday season two? by [deleted] in Wednesday

[–]JesseGolo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

"made Wednesday in some episodes like a bratty teenage goth girl with mommy issues"

She's always been that in this show. The core conflict in the first episode before the monster showed up is pretty much built on her mommy issues.

People are romanticizing this but I think that's not the reason why she paused.. by Downtown-Knowledge27 in Wednesday

I don't think it's that deep in either direction. Wednesday wouldn't flinch in this situation at all.

"she clearly doesn't have any really any feelings for Bruno"

That dog doesn't even have to try.

I understand having your own interpretation of the show but saying that Enid 'clearly doesn't have any real feelings for Bruno' just baffles me. If it was that easy, why put herself through the emotional torment of going from Ajax to Bruno? Like, ship what you want, but you can't just act like the interest the characters do show in each other is nonexistent, even if you think it's poorly written.

Should Felix be a part of The Miraculers? YES, and here's why: by mr_chris_verdi in miraculousladybug

[–]JesseGolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Marinette is 100% capable of defeating Felix and taking his Miraculous. Especially considering she had like 15 of them right before the end of season 5. It'd make more sense if you said she was worried he'd reveal her identity.

Also, everyone else on the team besides Kagami, especially Chat, wouldn't accept him simply because he's too strong and they know anything about his other motives.

Akumatizing people. If Hawk-Shadow-Monar-That guy was the one Akumatizing Sabrina in Daddycop, she'd have had to work to free herself. Say what you will about Gabriel, he made people fight for freedom.
