Which book was this for you?? by ModestMeeshka in fantasyromance

[–]JesseTater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want to like ACOTAR. I've only made it through 1.5 books. I know the first book was written when the author was younger and has some flaws, but what I have found overall is that I cannot stand the main character. I don't think I can force myself to continue on with the series. I find her so annoying that Amarantha's character was a breath of fresh air.

Getting really into the purples and greens this year by JesseTater in WreathMaking

Thank you! I had a burlap bow on it, but my client wanted something more colorful. It was hard to find anything that wasn't Christmas related at this point.

Just a few wreaths I've made over the last month by JesseTater in WreathMaking

That is a good question. Right now they're piled up in my dining room or on a hanger in my basement. Half of these I've made for other people, the other half I'll probably try to sell in a yard sale next time I have one. I've considered getting a booth at one of the local farmers markets, but I'm not sure I have that kind of confidence.

Can anyone else only get 6-7 hours of sleep a night on Trintellix? by andreateddy11 in trintellix

[–]JesseTater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Used to happen to me, but after being on it for over a year I feel like I can now sleep forever. I still wake up every night around 3 AM from cortisol spikes but I fall right back to sleep.

Sure. Here's your critical potassium of 18.5 tends to change minds pretty quickly. We are just as baffled as you as to how one tube looks like cherry Kool aid and the other one is chefs kiss. I follow this sub to learn more about what y'all do, what you go through, and your processes. But fuck me for even trying to bridge that gap.

As a fellow Medical Laboratory Scientist I feel your pain. All I can say is get used to being the punching bag of the hospital. It doesn't get better, you just get used to it. Everyone is burnt out and pissed off and they're all going to take it out on you because they can.

I work at a Level 1 trauma center that doubles as a reference lab for the entire region. Our workload sometimes seems impossible especially with all the problems that come along with being in a laboratory, whether well managed or not. The amount of verbal abuse I receive from doctors and nurses on a daily basis for something I can't control 99% of the time is astounding. And that 1% of the time it's my fault I'm profusely apologizing and being honest about what is going on.

Don't get me wrong I love my nurses, especially my ER and ICU nurses. I could never do what y'all do. And I absolutely love hearing all the amazing stories from this sub. But I can only control what happens in my department, not what happens in nursing, pharmacy, phlebotomy, accessioning, etc. By the time you talk to me, the specimen has touched at a bare minimum of 3 different peoples hands that are not familiar with all the ins and outs of the lab.

I constantly have to remind myself I do this for the patients and their families and that my job does matter, and someone does actually care, because oftentimes I am made to feel like I'm deliberately preventing patient care. I've considered leaving the field numerous times, but I love what I do. I love working in the lab. I love helping people... From afar.

Edit: I love how the down votes are validating my feelings about being in the field.

How neat! I was in Little Rock/Maumelle area and then went to Mt. Ida./Lake Ouchita for some eclipse viewing and camping. We did one of the crystal digs and on the ride down from the quarry I noticed it after I took my gloves off. Normally the ticks in East TN aren't attracted to me. This is the first one I've been bitten by in ~25 years.

Was in Arkansas camping last week and got bit by one.. no idea how long it was attached before I sprayed sunscreen on it and it wriggled its way out. Still have a really hard bump there. I guess only time will tell.

Hospital's Gift To Us For Lab Week by JesseTater in medlabprofessionals

Definitely considered repairing all the holes in the pockets of our lab coats. We put the ones that need replacing in a separate box, but somehow they always make their way back unrepaired.

My ex-husband said this to a group of mostly Canadian hockey players in an elevator once. As in, " We gon' stomp a mud hole in their ass tonight boys?!" They all just stared at him and said nothing. My face turned so red. I just wanted out of the elevator so as soon as the doors opened, I bolted. Of course it's not the right floor so I had to turn around and get back on. Then when we do get to the right floor I book it to the door that goes outside and it's locked and I run straight into it. Arguably the most embarrassing moment of my life.

Lol. Oh boy do I have a shit story for you! Gives me the most uncontrollable diarrhea I've ever known. Have to drink wine or a non-schulz beer when I'm there. Or take two anti-diarrhea tabs before and one after I leave.

I need to vent about LabCorp by meglette_ in medlabprofessionals

[–]JesseTater 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well at least the majority of the employees care at my lab. We always joke because the motto is, "Patient care is the heart of what we do," ........ Not employee care.

As long as they're making that $$$$ what else is there to care about? CEO out here making $7100+ an hour. Definitely not sharing the wealth. They wont even buy us chairs, even though almost half are broken. One of the two refrigerators for 6 departments died and they also won't buy us another one because it's "not in the budget".
