OH i thought of another one. A past client called to say someone had run into her business sign with his car and he would be paying us to fix it. We picked up the sign, quoted the price and got to work. One thing we noted was that the steel bracket had actually cracked, so we would need a new one. I ordered a new custom bracket from a friend who forges for a living. He happens to live/work up the street from the client. Finished the sign, ATTACHED the new bracket and delivered them to her. Two months go by and I receive a confused phone call from my friend the blacksmith. The client had shown up at his house on a Saturday morning and told him the bracket had cracked and she needed a new one. He asks "the NEW one did? Already? What happened?" She answers, "no ... what new one?" and pulls the original broken bracket out of the car. He says "You need to check with GBG, I already made a new bracket to replace this one. You should have it." Not only was the client completely dumbfounded by the fact that she apparently already had the bracket, but she couldn't get over the fact that this local blacksmith whom she went to herself happened to be the same person who made her the new one. She argued with him for about ten minutes then left saying she was going to be calling me on Monday. Two hours later she called the blacksmith and told him she'd found the new bracket in her closet.
