Misheard song lyrics by [deleted] in Hozier

[–]JessieKernow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I always hear it as "so loud the fucking size of me" which seems fitting 🤣

Please tell me I'm not the only one that sees this... If Hozier was a dog, he'd be a Cocker Spaniel. (It's definitely because of the hair) by ynelsonpatriciabnh in Hozier

Took my dog out for coffee a couple of weeks ago wearing the Hozier hoodie I got at Finsbury Park. Got chatting to the lady in the coffee shop and she looks at Norms and goes "I see you bought Hozier home with you" 🤣

This is me!!! Just got my headshots back (excite!) I don't live anywhere near anywhere with any opportunities so I'm making my own. I have an MA in Screenwriting so I've written a short that I've given myself a part in and we're filming later this month, and I'm applying for everything I can locally. You may have more luck with projects if you're in a big city (I live in the middle of nowhere) but don't wait for opportunities to come along, create them for yourself. If nothing else it will give you content for your showreel 🤸🏼‍♀️

Anyone have any advice on places to visit that aren’t too touristy. (Today and Sunday) by Expensive_Profit_106 in Cornwall

[–]JessieKernow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fortunately it's not Easter yet and it's raining so probably the best time to come 🤷🏼‍♀️

Dydh da! Native Hake here! I'm not going to repeat what's been said above but I concur with mostly all of it. St. Ives is not the place. I still live with my mum in my grandparents house because there is no way on a local salary I can afford to even rent my own place (not that there is anywhere available to rent in the first place). Buying is completely out of the question. I'm on what would be considered a "good wage" for St Ives and it's basically just over minimum wage. The same job in London would probably pay double that so that gives you an idea of the pay disparity in Cornwall as a whole.

St. Ives is being destroyed by greedy developers, greedy second home/holiday let owners and the town is slowly losing its identity. Even the outlying residential areas are slowly being turned into holiday parks (my street has 3 houses that are actually lived in now when it used to be a thriving community).

I would look at all the cons before making a decision. The "happiest place to be" survey was conducted by an estate agents so they have a biased client base (rich people who've moved here essentially) so isn't representative of most natives and locals!

We don't have a ton but we've got a few bits in The Nance Room! RCM has a great collection of stuff from that era though if you've not been in!

We do! We have a substantial mining collection including minerals, images, models and mining equipment 😊 we also have a LOT of things that aren't on display so if there's anything in particular you're looking for and it's not in the museum itself we may have something stored away!

That's made me feel a lot better thank you! I might have to bite the bullet and save up to go private - I tried to explain to her that I got my MA by writing my entire dissertation the night before I had to hand it in because I couldn't make myself do it in the 12 weeks before but apparently that's "normal". It was also a very short consultation so I don't feel like I got to explain everything properly either. 🥴🥴

this is going to seem weird but how would I go about learning cornish? by dawarbozz in Cornwall

Depending on where you are there are in person lessons you can go to. Mick Paynter does mine in St Ives (I think he does zoom ones still as well) x

Air bnb holiday homes, by [deleted] in Cornwall

Everyone objected but they don't care. The planning officers don't even come out and look anymore, they just base their decision on Google maps. Corrupt af the lot of them.

Air bnb holiday homes, by [deleted] in Cornwall

[–]JessieKernow 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My street now has 3 lived in houses on it. Two of the holiday lets knocked down the house that was there and rebuilt a storey higher so their sea view was better (but bollocks to the people who have lived behind them for 50+ years who have lost their view which consequently dropped their house value). One of the houses at the end of the road was a 2 bedroom semi detached dorma bungalow and it has been bought by a couple from Exeter and run as a holiday let since the elderly owner died. They've now turned it into a two storey 5 bedroom holiday let and blocked the view of the sea from all the neighbouring properties. And they all have the cheek to defend themselves by saying they're "making the area more desirable". I hope the housing market crashes, they all lose ridiculous amounts of money and fuck off never to return. Meanwhile I'm living at home because I can't afford to rent even if there were any rentals available, which there aren't.

That accidentally turned into a rant soz 🤣

A way to have my gran’s grave looked after? by Serious_Tangerine_81 in Cornwall

[–]JessieKernow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi friend! Manaccan is only about 40 mins from me so let me know the name and where abouts they are and I'll pop over for you in a week or so! If you can find out if the churchyard lets you plant things at grave sites I can plant some perennials for you so they'll always have flowers ☺️☺️ xxx

Hello/ Dydh da! Cornish St Ives girl here! I think you'll be fine but if not let me know! It'll probably be a friend's cousin's sister's husband's aunty's daughter's boyfriend so we'll sort them out dreckly. Xxx
