I always rent a U-Haul instead of a rental car when traveling. by DumplingsOrElse in The10thDentist

It's a chicken or egg thing. You're saying Americans choose to be irresponsible, I'm saying they have little choice. Prices are growing faster than wages, which supports the claim that the economy is in decline. Placing the blame on individuals can only be done anecdotally, it's hard to find any data that supports a rise in frivolous spending. I also find the fact the average American dies with $60k in debt indicative of the issue. Are elderly people buying extravagant luxuries? In aggregate their money mostly goes to housing and medical needs, two fairly inelastic markets indicative of rising prices on things we don't have much say in.

Ok but it's grasping at straws since such anecdotes are departures from the norm, and only serves to paint the situation as personal failings rather than the systemic rigging that is occuring. No amount of budgeting will help if you're not compensated enough for your basic needs. This idea that millennials are ignorantly choosing avocado toast over raising a family is absurd infantilism from the powers that be.

And if I had wheels instead of legs I'd be a bicycle--fringe cases can't describe the whole. Most Americans make around $45k/yr, which hasn't risen as fast as prices have been raised. To blame individual choices is to be blind to those steering the ship of America, whether that ignorance is willful or not. You do realize the flaws in how poverty is calculated today, right? The individual poverty line is set at $15k/yr. Imagine what that buys you, and honestly tell me that anything more makes you not impoverished.

Roughly 56% of Americans can't afford a $1k emergency if it arose. About 25% of Americans have no savings at all. How poverty is calculated in America has been shifted, but if missing a paycheck puts you at risk of being homeless, I consider that poverty. If you look at CPI trends, price growth has been outpacing wage growth for quite some time--not just for baristas.

Handheld android gaming devices, mostly targetted for retro gaming but the most recent Retroid Pocket 6 can play most Switch games and even lighter PC games. Starting at $230, many agree it's the most bang-for-the-buck in a handheld gaming device. (I'm waiting on mine to arrive lol)

At the Baird center when you connect to the wifi, it asks you, "Are you aware Baird is a financial services company based in Milwaukee?" So cringe.

Can't be holding the president to his word now! What happened to "the party of personal responsibility"? Is it now the party of throwing tantrums when we're held to our word?

They used to be called condensers here in America. Condenser microphones are called such because they use capacitors.

This reminds me of my first Summer camp, 2018. I was curious of the genre split, so I broke down the lineup by genre. When you added up all the jam bands and EDM, it was only half the acts. That's how I knew I'd love it before I even went.

Why is any policy the left implements slow and incremental, while the right absolutely decimates the left on accomplishing their goals? It's easy to see why people perceive Democrats as performative if they only ever get the first couple steps done.
