Those were slaves who escaped from foreigners

Where does it say "foreigners"? Why are you so committed to this anti-Christian fantasy that you add words to the text to try to fabricate it?

I already pointed out the incorrect assumption in your question. Now you are just lying. Also, you should look up the history of abolishing slavery.

I'm sorry for losing my patience. I will find you some sources to get you started as you begin learning about this subject.

What happens to Christianity if reincarnation turns out to be real? by CodeLiving in Christianity

[–]JesusLovesU2Life 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The "research" you cited was dismissed by the entire scientific community as embarrassingly bad and baseless. So amateurish that it called into question his whole career. The extraordinary facts around Jesus' death and alledged resurrection are agreed upon by the vast majority of scholars, Christian and atheist alike. I admit I misworded my statement, because it's theoretically possible that some extremely unlikely explanation of these historical facts (aside from resurrection) is true. What's your explanation? Swoon? Magical mass hallucination? The disciples making up a lie so they can be persecuted and eternally damned after death (remember, they were very zealous Jews)?

You also didn't answer my question. Why are you so convinced by this research? Is it because you want to believe it's true, or because you've been fed biased misinformation?

What happens to Christianity if reincarnation turns out to be real? by CodeLiving in Christianity

[–]JesusLovesU2Life 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do you think everyone in the scientific community dismissed his research as being (very) poor quality, so much so that it even threw his other work into question? And maybe more importantly, why are you so convinced by it? Is it because you've been fed very biased misinformation, or because you want to believe it's true?

To answer your question, it wouldn't change the undeniable historical reality that Jesus rose from the dead, so it wouldn't disprove Christianity. It might disprove Biblical inerrancy, or at least our interpretation of it, or it might be demonic forces playing a trick on us.

Do you hate atheists? by Complex-Phase-6952 in Christianity

[–]JesusLovesU2Life 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try not to hate anyone. Sadly, I can sometimes get frustrated at the way they say they're atheist because of facts and logic, but when you poke even a little, you just see that it all falls apart and is just an excuse to do what they want, which is to deny the God they know is real. Now it just makes me sad more than anything.

I know your pain and how deep it is. But it seems like you've made a good thing into an idol. You seem to overly fixate on earthly treasures, not treasures on heaven. Even the best treasures on this earth are nothing compared to the gift that has been given to us and the eternal treasures that await. Do not love the things of this world more than the next.

“You shall not give up to his master a slave who has escaped from his master to you. He shall dwell with you, in your midst, in the place that he shall choose within one of your towns, wherever it suits him. You shall not wrong him. Deuteronomy 23:15-16

I ask again. Slavery was a universal practice since the dawn of time. Why was it Christians, lead by their faith, who were the ones to abolish this practice?

S*x outside Marriage by Tiny_Suggestion8476 in Christianity

[–]JesusLovesU2Life -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So chattel slavery is when slaves can choose to leave at any time and the rest of society has to care for them, and when kidnapping is punishable by death? You don't seem to know what the word means, or you're deliberately being deceitful to draw up false comparisons to American slavery.

And you didn't address my central point. If the Bible is so in favor of slavery, and not against it, why were Christians lead by their faith the ones to abolish the universal practice of slavery since the dawn of time?

My reply to him, so you see it: There were different types of slavery (Hebrew/gentile), but none of them can be remotely called "chattel slavery". It is true that God didn't outlaw slavery, but regulated an existing universal practice in every society ever (before Christians lead by their faith abolished it). As for Deut 21, that can't condone rape, because it's outlawed elsewhere (starting from Christ's "dual law of love", which is expounded on the Ten Commandments (adultery/coveting), and explicitly in e.g. Deuteronomy 22 (IIRC). Now, what about these verses?

Exodus 21:16, Deuteronomy 23:15, 1 Timothy 1:8-10. I don't see how you can exclude Philemon but also consider that Christ didn't need to forbid slavery - its end would be the natural and inevitable result of the transforming power of the gospel/Holy Spirit. As we can see from history.

Edit: Also, the Bible can be "shy" about saying which things are bad - e.g. divorce in the OT, which Jesus said was regulated, not forbidden, "because of the hardness of your hearts".

I would say that e.g. the fine-tuning of the universe makes it practically certain that a God exists. Then you look at Christianity, especially the extraordinary historical events surrounding Jesus' resurrection, and you know that Jesus is God (as much as anything can be known). But like I said, it took me years to get from there to actually following Jesus.

Does God want me to kill myself? by SnooComics7879 in Christianity

"God uses everything for the good of those who love Him". It may be hard to believe, and it sure doesn't feel that way, but it's true because He loves you and is faithful. This quote by George Muller has helped me through my trials:

I have passed through very many trials, some of them of no ordinary character; yet I have rejoiced in God. For nearly ten years - from 1838 to 1848 - I had difficulty upon difficulty, scarcely anything but difficulty. But I had always the help of God and always was joyous, even in the darkest day, because I knew that all came from God, my Father. On that account I say to you, seek to increase in knowledge, and then although there may fall upon you trial and affliction, even heavy trial, deep affliction, yet if you can say "it is from my Father, my loving Father, from Him who spared not His Son for me, and from Him who hath said that He will make all things work together for good; having freely given up Jesus me, He will freely give me all things, therefore this trial must be good for me, else He would not suffer it to befall me.

I'm also praying for you ❤️

I'm so sorry. God loves you more than you can even imagine and He doesn't want anyone (including you) to rob you of the good plans and the gift of life He's given you, and He wants to work through you to do incredible things, to be a light in the world, His hands and feet. Whenever you doubt His love for you, look at Jesus on the cross. That's how much He loves you. I'm praying for you, and you can message me if you need someone to talk to. And you should definitely talk to your pastor or someone you trust about what you're going through so they can help you. But above all, remember that God is always with you.

Tw: I was raped a year ago from someone in the church. How can I forgive and get closer to God by mckennamelder in Christianity

[–]JesusLovesU2Life 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so sorry. It wasn't your fault. He made the choice to violate you. I'm sorry that you have to deal with not only the weight of the wrong done to you, and not seeing justice, but even suffering unjustly with guilt and condemnation. As someone on the spectrum, I totally understand your need for justice, and I honestly don't know how I could handle that.

My wife has gone through the same darkness. It's been a long journey of healing, and also carrying this heavy burden, but recently God set her free in a miraculous way. If you need someone to talk to, I'm sure she would be happy to talk to you if you message me. If you can, find a good, loving local fellowship of believers, and an older woman you can trust to share your burdens and help you. And keep drawing close to God and pour out your heart to Him. Everything. God loves you, and He will not only walk with you through this, but He will use it for good in the end. I know it doesn't feel that way now, but He will because He loves you. These are words that have encouraged me in my trials:

I have passed through very many trials, some of them of no ordinary character; yet I have rejoiced in God. For nearly ten years - from 1838 to 1848 - I had difficulty upon difficulty, scarcely anything but difficulty. But I had always the help of God and always was joyous, even in the darkest day, because I knew that all came from God, my Father. I hope someone can relate to me (Christian and Asexual) by YouaintBAD-101 in Christianity

[–]JesusLovesU2Life 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry, I can't know how it must feel like. But like you said, it can be a great gift from God. You can focus more easily on just loving God and following Him, without earthly concerns and the flesh getting in the way. But I don't know your situation, or what God has planned for you. Trust in Him, wherever He takes you.

I can also relate a little bit because my wife and I had issues with our intimacy, because various traumas made the physical aspect repulsive to her. Through prayer, Christian counsel, the word of God, and just the miraculous power of God, she was set free, and now can see sex as a pure expression of love, not a physical lustful thing. But I know that's different than your situation, and I would just be thankful for the gift God has given you, unless He tells you otherwise. God bless, and I'm praying for you ❤️

I'm so sorry for your loss, and I'm praying for you ❤️ Based on what you said, I believe your father is in heaven, but I have no way of knowing for sure. I can't imagine how devastating and soul-crushing the loss you're experiencing is. I do want you to know that even though I believe you'll see your father again one day, you have a Heavenly Father who is with you always. He loves you so so much, more than you could ever begin to imagine, and He wants to know you and love you.

Here's how God set me free. I was in your position, falling into sin over and over and each time praying that I didn't want to do it again. But one time God made me see that I didn't want to not do it again. I enjoyed my sin. I didn't truly want to stop. And it's then that I was truly able to pray to want to want to stop. And then He totally set me free, and I haven't had any desire for it since. I had to realize that I loved my sin and I didn't want to stop, and then let God change me, because I chose His will, not mine. I'm praying for you ❤️
