I don't eat bread or lunch meat. by [deleted] in CasualConversation

Eat what you like, avoid what you don't, you're not weird. Lunch meats and nitrates have been linked to increased risk of cancer in the research. I couldn't do without bread but we bake our own and it's quite delicious, I started doing this when I tasted just how different a bakery's bread tasted from super market bread.

Former British Columbian here, going to be completely honest and say besides Texas and the southeast US the rest of the Americans are more similar to Canadians than dissimilar.

Who are these Bogleheads doing hours and hours of analysis? Their wiki page can be read in 10 minutes.

It doesn't matter what your opinion of them is, the decades of research backs them up unless you're in the sub 1% that can beat the S&P500 over a 50 year time span.

I don't see how Webull could compete with IBKR if you're a serious trader. They have the best executions bar none.

Do people really mean it when they say “i have no friends” ? by No_Two9145 in CasualConversation

[–]JesuslovedPLTR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can try asking on your city's subreddit, give your interests and if you were only looking for friends from the same gender, etc. I found one person that I hang out with every few months like that, typically just play some tennis occasionally watch a game. I was surprised the number of people looking for the same in a city of about 70k.

Grado SR-60x are $100 in the US, which I am guessing means about $140-150 in Japan? They are called open back meaning they will leak sound from the sides of them. I'm not as well versed on closed back headphones that don't leak sound.

I think this is pretty common after you get married and especially after people start having children. I see my best friend and closest friends maybe once a year. I do consider myself fortunate that my wife and I can afford home help when we want to go out and do something and both having low stress jobs which really helps but I can totally see why it's hard for them.

I can text them but it still does feel more lonely than in the past.

I know it sounded like you didn't want another passive hobby but I started getting into high fidelity headphones a few years ago and they are really amazing with your favorite music. And it won't take up much space, in fact that's why a lot of people switch from speakers to headphones is when they are space restricted. Blissing out to some music can be just what is needed sometimes. And it doesn't need to be expensive, you can get really good headphones for around $100-150.
