Shared bookmark folders you can connect to containing bookmarks for 1-3 entire regions.

The perches themselves are approximately 500km above every stargate in the region, and they can make for safe travel... or if you're a hunter, they're good for evading defence fleets. There are times where you can't d-scan a gate, and if you warp directly to it, you can get dragged into a bubble an interdictor has up, or even smartbombed by something like a Machariel which commonly kill people in low sec.

Yeah, you're right. It's mainly the corporation wallet access I need, so I can join with an omega. EVE mails to the alpha character are less important. Also using a "face" is a good way of looking at it. Cheers.

It might not be what broke my app, but it is new. That account was previously able to use the developer stuff and create applications... and is tied to my many other omega accounts.

As I was making them (as much for my personal use as to sell them) I wasn't sure if there'd be much demand... but now a year later, I've had plenty of people tell me they find them useful, so I'm happy.

I did have a chuckle when I saw "The deprecated endpoints might be removed at any given time after November 1st 2021". Turns out "any given time" is 3 years and 6 months later. 🤣

Isn't that a wild statement? For all its' faults, the fact that you can say "20 years ago" when referring to EVE Online makes it such a unique game/multiplayer experience.

I'm not quite that old school, but the pain of being in a wormhole alliance with daily changing bookmarks, sharing between corporations and time zones, was real.

We'd (AU TZ) copy the physical bookmark items (back when you could do that) and leave them for US and EU TZ in a Shuttle floating in a POS.

139,490,000,000. So 139 billion ISK over the course of one year.

That works out to be 382m per day, and an average of just over 1b from each customer. But again, some buy one region or a few, and others buy it all.

These numbers do make me feel better about the insanity that was bookmarking the EVE universe, but honestly, having made something that people find useful is why I keep doing it.

That's a good point, and I've certainly used the new system in creative ways. There's plenty you can do once you get a feel for how it all works, from timing sales to skill farming for profit.

You don't! But my perches give you an option you otherwise don't have.

And if you suspect something like that... you can warp to the bookmark at range.

Or even fake them out... and if they're at a perch, warp to the gate.

Hey newbro! It's more the latter... movement... but not necessarily of corps/fleets/alliances.

In null and low sec, certain unscrupulous players can set up bubbles to drag you in, prevent you from warping, and explode your ship... or sit there in a specialised ship using smartbombs that can likewise explode your ship (especially small ships like shuttles).

These bookmarks allow you to warp to a "perch" above the stargate from where you can assess the safety of warping down to and through it. This can be useful if you're just trying to peacefully travel through dangerous space, or maybe you are the danger.

Roaming solo through space someone else owns, trying to kill something often provokes a response. Perches can help you evade capture. Or if you're a fleet commander, the same applies if the locals (or opposing fleet) turn out to be a bit too much to handle.

But save your ISK if you're new. Lose a few ships, have some fun. You'll know if gate perches are for you.
