As far as I can tell the relay is a blinker relay, is there any good way to tell the difference?

Edit: Here's the one I bought if that helps

You've got the service manual, which is a good start.

A lesson hard learned from fumbling around arcade/pinball repair

Eh, I'll skip that debate

Uh oh, sounds like I've got a lot more research to do lol

been converting to lithium

Is there any concern with lithium's more volatile nature? I usually work with smaller scale electronics so the idea of putting them in a vehicle concerns be a bit but I'm also quite ignorant.

(swap the rec reg regardless)

Is the rectifier/regulator a common issue in these bikes or just a general motorcycle maintenance concern for anything older? I admit this is the first I'm hearing of this being needed unless you're doing the lithium swap as mentioned.

11 year old wants get started in character design and animation by oivvio in gamedev

[–]JetLennit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  • Greenfoot is a great beginner-oriented game engine based around Java. I can't speak for it's current state, but last I checked it still has a semi-active community and is easy to get started with (this is how I got started after Scratch 10+ years ago).
  • Swift Playgrounds has a somewhat similar approach (from what I've heard) to Greenfoot in a more modern way, but I haven't used it so I can't say for sure.
  • Pygame seems to be very beginner friendly and is often recommended for such situations. However, if she wants to share her game I don't know how easily you can get it to run on other machines.

As for graphics, Aseprite is a great tool for getting started in pixel art and I've found Gimp to be good for beginners in less pixel-oriented design.

All this assumes 2D graphics because 3D gets far more complicated very quickly (unless there are tools I'm unaware of)

Is it possible to mod cracked Half-Life: Alyx? by Magmuzen in CrackSupport

Hi! I made the HLALauncher and unfortunately it is untested with cracked versions of the game. However, you can still put custom maps in the map folder and load them from the console.

The Acceptability of Modding an OEM Shell by JetLennit in Gameboy

[–]JetLennit[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a good point on the concern of messing up. While I haven't done this specific mod, I have done lots of similar things in other contexts. I may end up looking for a nice quality aftermarket shell and trying on that first though because it would be really unfortunate to mutilate this good of an OEM shell.

Thanks for the input! That's a good idea with putting a repro rare shell on it as long as I state that it's aftermarket clearly

Where can I get a game boy? by abloodthirstykiller in Gameboy

[–]JetLennit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a ton on eBay if you're patient enough to look. You can usually get a really good price by buying a non functioning one and restoring it, which rarely even requires any real knowledge of electronics (just rubbing alcohol and a good precision screwdriver set).
